Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest and greatest ship, will have a dog living onboard as part of their crew.

Social media posts from crew members welcomed Rover, a Labrador when Icon of the Seas docked in Ponce, Puerto Rico before it began its final leg of the journey to Miami.

Crew member Goodwin Fernandes posted a photo on Instagram with Rover saying, “We are thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Rover, who has joined us as a permanent resident aboard [the] magnificent Icon of the Seas.”

Rosevelt Rodrigues, another crew member posted, “Meet Rover… the resident Mascot of the Icon. He just came on board today. He’s a friendly Labrador….who’s going to be a permanent resident on the World’s Largest Cruise Ship.. Icon Of The Seas.

Royal Caribbean will also be paying homage to Rover in other areas.

On the Royal Promenade, instead of the classic car statue, guests will find a statue of a dog.

Since the launch of Voyager of the Seas launched with the first-ever Royal Promenade, the line has featured a different classic car on each ship.

Njal Eide, one of the architects for the Royal Promenade had included a model of a Morgan Sportster. Richard Fain, the former chairman of CEO then donated his own Morgan car that he received for his 40th birthday.

But Icon of the Seas will have a new type of statue.
