- Disney’s brand new ship Disney Adventure has announced its sailings and prices out of Singapore – and it’s looking good to Aussies.
- The ship is selling extremely fast, while bookings lag in Australia.
- Here is a price breakdown to see whether it could actually be cheaper for Aussies to sail Disney out of Singapore than Australia.
Aussie cruisers will be taking advantage of an extraordinary combination of high prices at home and cheaper prices overseas to cruise the Disney Adventure out of Singapore.
A Cruise Passenger breakdown shows that the pricing of Disney Adventure, the new mega-ship from Disney sailing out of Singapore, is particularly favourable for families that don’t live in cities where the locally based Disney Wonder sails.
Disney Adventure can host up to 6,700 passengers at a time, allowing them to price individual cabins lower than Disney Wonder, which can host only up to 2,400.
As a luxury line, Disney cruise fares are generally higher than many normal family lines. The price difference is so pronounced that even after factoring in flights to Singapore, most Aussie families will find a fly-cruise option cheaper than out of Australia.
For instance, a three-night cruise in the 2025/2026 season starts from $1739 in Singapore – but is $2,712 out of Sydney.
It should be noted that these figures are for the 2025/2026 cruise season when Disney Adventure will start sailing. Last-minute prices for the current Australian season can be cheaper, but the season ends in February and there are limited suites.
Disney Adventure is selling rapidly
Disney Adventure cruises are reportedly flying off the shelves. Across the 21 initial sailings, announced under two months ago, it’s already looking difficult to purchase an interior or oceanview cabin.
The inaugural five-night sailing is sold out on Inside and Oceanview cabins, and the outlook isn’t too different for other scheduled sailings. Of the 12 four-night cruises scheduled out of Singapore on Disney Adventure, only one of them still has inside staterooms available, and only four of them still have oceanview rooms available.
The three-night sailings show a similar story. Of the eight available dates, just three of them still have inside cabins available, and not a single sailing still has oceanview cabins available.
If wannabe Aussie Disney Cruisers want to be a part of this first season, they’ll have to act extremely quickly.
What could this mean for Disney Cruise Line in Australia
After the initial flurry of hype and excitement two years ago when DCL announced it would be coming to Australia, the cruise line now finds itself in a slightly difficult spot.
The effect on DCL in Australia of having a shiny big brother next door could impact sales. While Disney Adventure is well on its way to selling out its first season, despite its massive capacity, Disney Wonder is sold out in just one cabin category: inside staterooms on a three-night Sydney cruise.
Cruise Passenger has already reported that Disney is reducing prices by 30% for its Australian cruises.
Cruisers like Lisa Barnwell are ready to snap up the cheaper deals in Singapore.
“It’s way cheaper! I just priced up flying to Singapore and that’s cheaper than a $9k cruise from Sydney, and we’d take a week in Singapore as well, only thing is that it’s pretty booked up.”
Other cruisers such as Marilyn King have sailed with Disney in Australia and loved it, but feel realistic about the price and ship quality differences.
“I went on the Disney Wonder early last year with 4 other friends and our teenagers. I must say it was lovely but incredibly expensive for the Disney Wonder ship.
“I understand that for a lot of people with small children or even people that are so Disney obsessed that they don’t mind what the experience costs, however, if you can sail on a bigger, newer ship, and at a lower cost it is understandable that some people would be looking for value for money.”
The price breakdown
While every family’s budget and holidays differ, Cruise Passenger has put together a comprehensive price breakdown so Australians can evaluate whether a Disney cruise out of Australia or Singapore is a more viable option. While DCL is sold in USD, all prices expressed have been converted to AUD.
To make the comparison, a three-night cruise out of Singapore is being compared with a three-night cruise out of Sydney. Neither cruise visits a port, however, there are Australian DCL which visit ports, which isn’t an option out of Sydney.
The total prices of the cruise fare, flights, and one day of additional travel, including accommodation, have been compared for a family of four living in Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth.
Budget Your Trip lists a full day of travel, including accommodation, as $275.95 per person in Singapore and $471.21 per person in Sydney, this breakdown is multiplying that number by two to calculate the cost of a hotel and day of activities for a family of four in the respective cities.
As mentioned, a three-night cruise in the 2025/2026 season starts from $1,739 in Singapore, but a much heftier $2,712 out of Sydney.
Flights to Singapore or Sydney were calculated by SkyScanner’s best fare for the available dates, taking into account luggage costs, and rounded to the nearest $50.
Other costs like insurance, transport, sightseeing, and more should be considered if budgeting for a holiday.
For a family of four living in Sydney
Sydney cruise holiday cost – $2712 x 4 = $10,848
In this case, the family would not need further flights or a hotel.
- Singapore cruise cost – $1739 x 4 = $6995
- Return flights to Singapore – $800 x 4 = $3200
- One day of hotel and activities in Singapore – $550
Total cost of Singapore cruise holiday = $10,745
Conclusion: Unbelievably, even Sydneysiders would find the price expensive in comparison to a fly-cruise holiday to Singapore on Disney Adventure instead.Â
For a family of four in Adelaide
- Sydney cruise cost – $2712 x 4 = $10,848
- Return flights to Sydney – 400 x 4 = $1600
- One day of hotel and activities in Sydney – $942
Total cost of Sydney cruise holiday = $13,390
- Singapore cruise cost – $1739 x 4 = $6995
- Return flights to Singapore – 850 x 4 = $3600
- One day of hotel and activities in Singapore = $550
Total cost of Singapore cruise holiday = $11,145
Conclusion: A family travelling out of Adelaide would save over $2000 in total by making the journey to Singapore, rather than Sydney.Â
For a family of four in Perth
- Sydney cruise cost – $2712 x 4 = $10,848
- Return flights to Sydney – $700 x 4 = $2800
- One day of hotel and activities in Sydney – $942
Total cost of Sydney cruise holiday = $14,590
- Singapore cruise cost – $1739 x 4 = $6995
- Return flights to Singapore – $500 x 4 = $2000
- One day of hotel and activities in Singapore = $550
Total cost of Singapore cruise holiday = $9495
Conclusion: Unsurprisingly given Western Australia’s closer proximity to Singapore and reduced flight time, large savings of around $5000 could be made by opting for the Singapore option rather than the cruise out of Sydney.
