Disney Cruise Line locks in Singapore sailing dates

Disney Cruise Line has revealed the Disney Adventure will begin sailing out of Singapore from December 15.

The brand-new ship will be sailing three and four-night itineraries out of the Marina Bay Cruise Centre. The move signifies an intention for Disney to lay down roots in Asia, with Disney Adventure already locked in for at least five years of sailing out of Singapore.

Sarah Fox, vice president and regional general manager, of Southeast Asia, Disney Cruise Line says the ship should have something for everyone.

“Sailing on primarily three- and four-night voyages designed with only dedicated days at sea, the ship will include something for everyone. From fun and interactive spaces for kids to relaxing venues for adults to unwind, to entertaining and engaging places for families to enjoy together, guests will find endless adventures from bow to stern.”

What’s new about Disney Adventure?

The Disney Adventure is the first ship that Disney has acquired, rather than building from scratch. What is now Disney Adventure was originally being constructed to become Global Dream, for Genting Hong Kong. However, after the company went bankrupt, Disney snapped at the chance to turn Global Dream into Disney Adventure.

This contributes to the fact that this ship will be a bit different from what we’re used to seeing from Disney ships. For example, it will have the first rollercoaster for a Disney cruise ship.

Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line says: “As part of our unprecedented expansion for Disney Cruise Line, we are committed to delivering exceptional experiences that bring our special brand of cruising and the best of Disney storytelling to new guests on new shores.

“When the Disney Adventure sets sail in December 2025, guests throughout Southeast Asia will have the opportunity to experience the magic of their favorite Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories, in their very own backyard.”

Also new is an Avengers-themed amusement park, which has the longest rollercoaster at sea, a minicars track, and a flat spinner attraction, all based around your favourite Avenger characters and scenes.

There’ll also be a brand new show onboard that’s based around Wall-E, an entertainment zone themed around Big Hero, and an entire outdoor pool area themed around Moana, which will double as a performance space.
