If you’ve got a little bit (or a lot) of cash to splash, we’ve compiled a list of the most luxurious river and ocean suites.
While it varies from ship-to-ship, most lines with ultra-luxe cabins offer butler services to unpack and do just about everything else, spacious suites that have separate living and sleeping areas, walk-in-wardrobes and big balconies.
On top of that, gourmet food, a pillow menu, fresh flowers, Egyptian cotton or Italian silk sheets and, of course, your favourite champagne will be in the mini-bar.
Regent Seven Seas earlier this year announced that the line will create the most decadent and most expensive suite on the high seas.
Onboard the Seven Seas Explorer, the Regent Suite will equal the size of a townhouse at 3,875 sq feet.
At around $5,700 per person a night, the price tag includes food and drink, excursions (with private transport of course) and in-room spa treatments in the ‘relaxation chamber’.
But while you wait for the Seven Seas Explorer to be built (and also save up for to pay the bill), have a look at what is already on offer.

Queen Mary 2: Queens Grill Grand Duplex
The two-deck suite boasts a bedroom and two marble master bathrooms on the upper level. On the lower level, a living/dining area. The centerpiece of this suite is the sweeping staircase. Guests will also have access to all the Queens Grill amenities including the dining room, a special lounge and a dedicated sun deck.

AmaWaterways: Zambezi Queen
This luxurious cruise on the Chobe River offers guests the chance to view African wildlife from the comfort of their balconies. There are only 14 staterooms with the rooms ranging from 215 to 300 sq feet. All have a private balcony and two have their own sitting rooms.

Europa 2: The Owner’s Suite
Often described as the world’s most luxurious ship, the Owner’s Suite has a 15-metre veranda, separate living and bedroom areas, a guest bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. The suite is decked out in Scandinavian décor – pale wood, glass and subtle lighting. The bathroom has a whirlpool, daybed and a TV.

Crystal Symphony: The Penthouse
If you’re thinking of watching a movie while you’re in the bath, then this is the suite for you. The Crystal Penthouse has ocean view bathrooms. The suites have a butler and an attendant, and are furnished with a Swarovski chandelier and crystal pedestal sink in the powder room.

Seabourn Odyssey: Penthouse Spa Suites
The ship has four elegant Penthouse Spa Suites. The suites are located just above the Spa at Seabourn so guests have easy access to the Spa’s Serene Area and all the facilities and pampering services. The suites have special balconies, living and dining areas, a bathroom with a spa shower and a minibar stocked with healthy snacks and juices.

Oasis of the Seas: Royal Loft Suite
Royal Caribbean’s Royal Loft Suite onboard the Oasis of the Seas boasts a piano, in case you’re wanting to bash out a tune. The suite is spread over two levels and features panoramic views. It includes a private balcony with Jacuzzi, a wet bar and two dining areas.

Oceania Cruises’ Marina and Riviera: Owners’ Suites
The Owner’s Suites are furnished by Ralph Lauren Home and the suites have separate living and dining room. The bedroom has a king-sized bed and two whirlpools. The standout features include a media room, the music room as well as exclusive access to the private Executive Lounge staffed by a dedicated Concierge.

Celebrity Reflection: The Reflection Suite
The Reflection Suite is the new big thing on the line’s latest ship. It has two bedrooms, living and dining areas as well as a wraparound balcony fitted with a spa bath. But the bathroom is the standout feature, offering ultimate sea views.

Silver Spirit: Owners’ Suites
The newest ship in Silversea’s fleet, the Silver Spirit, has two Owner’s Suites. They are sleek, sophisticated and spacious. The suites can expand when joined with the Vista Suite. Your butler will offer you a choice of soaps, pillows, drinks for your minibar and even ask if you prefer to sleep on the soft or firm side of the custom-made mattress.

Uniworld: SS Maria Theresa
This is the company’s newest ships which launched in March. The upper and main decks have French balconies. L’Occitane en provence products are used in the marble bathrooms, towel warmers and special butler service for guests.
