The line that is synonymous with fun cruising launched some of the features on its newest and biggest ship today – and made quite a splash. Its waterpark will cost $250,000 and be even more thunderous Green Thunder.

And if you’re a water park fan, that’s big news!

Carnival Splendor which will arrive in Sydney in 2019, and will be the biggest and newest Carnival ship – a reward for the way Australia has taken the line to its heart.

She’ll be homeported year-round with capacity for 3,700 passengers on her 14 decks. She will have two waterslides and two splash parks, a RedFrog Pub and a bigger adults-only Serenity Retreat.

Carnival is proud to say its market is 35-55 year old families and “honey boomers” – couples whose children now holiday on their own, leaving mum and dad to please themselves – says Jennifer Vandekreeke, the line’s Australia and New Zealand vice president.

Carnival Splendor’s Green and Gold waterpark includes a Green Thrill slide that takes Green Thunder to the next level.

That may not be its name.  Ms Vandekreeke is considering a naming competition to try and top Green Thunder, the successful waterpark on board her other two ships in Australia.

Splendor will be a new departure for the line – and once all vessels are in place in 2020, capacity will increase an astonishing 52 per cent by 2022.

Splendor will also feature:

  • An expanded RedFrog Pub
  • RedFrog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar
  • A bigger aft deck Serenity Retreat area, an adults-only retreat
  • Guy’s Burger joint
  • Alchemy Bar
  • The spa themed, Cloud Nine accommodation, including complimentary access to Cloud 9 Spa’s thermal suite and thalassotherapy pool

More features of Carnival Splendor will be unveiled in early 2019.
