Viking has announced that it has taken delivery of its newest ocean ship, the Viking Saturn. The ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Italy, with the ship just a couple of weeks off taking guests for the first time.

Viking Saturn will have its more formalised and celebratory naming in New York City on June 6, before spending its first summer alternating between two new Viking voyages.

The ship will sail Iconic Iceland, Greenland and Canada, an itinerary over 15-days, starting from $9395. This sailing will scope itself onto amazing Scandinavian landscapes, with five different visits to Iceland ports, as well as stops in Greenland, Canada and more.

The other new itinerary is an Iceland & Norway Explorer, also a 15-day sailing, this itinerary begins from $8995. You’ll start off in Bergen, before a range of ports in Norway as you go deep into the Arctic, as well as an exploration of Iceland before ending up in Reykjavik.

The new vessel’s godmother will be Ann Ziff, esteemed philanthropist and Chairman of the Metropolitan Opera. The Metropolitan Opera has a close relationship with Viking, with the Opera performing on Viking’ Ocean Ships.

Ms Ziff said: “I am delighted to serve as godmother of the Viking Saturn. For those who are curious about the world, there is no better way to explore and immerse yourself than from the comfort of a Viking ship.”

Ms Ziff serves on many key boards around the world including the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts, Sing for Hope and the Wold Science Fair, serving as a key cultural partner for Viking.
