- Celebrity Cruises has ordered a sixth Edge-class ship.
- It will be the sister ship to Celebrity Xcel, set to debut this year.
- The ship will be constructed as Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
Celebrity Cruises is getting its sixth Edge-class ship, with delivery scheduled for 2028. The ship, known for now as Xcel 2, will become the sister ship of Celebrity Xcel, which is set to debut this year.
Celebrity’s Edge class ships currently has four ships, including Celebrity Edge which sails in Australia. With the upcoming debut of Xcel and the new announcet of Xcel 2, this will bring the class to a total of six ships.
Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises said: “Celebrity Xcel will be the happy place of vacationers globally when she launches in November and we’re thrilled to be making this commitment to bring her a sister ship in Edge 6.
“Celebrity Xcel will take forward the best of Edge series ships coupled with seven new experiences, all perfected with the help of our recently announced Xcel Dream Makers,’ a concept that engages cruisers in making final decisions across culinary, interior design and entertainment areas.”
The ship will be constructed as Chantiers de l’Atlantique, who have a strong relationship with Royal Caribbean Group, who own Celebrity Cruises.
