Seabourn Pursuit, the purpose-built expedition ship, arrives in the Kimberley in June next year. She is already 40 per cent sold to Australia’s intrepid travellers.

Luxury expedition ship Seabourn Pursuit is heading to Australia.

Robin West, Seabourn’s Vice-President of Expeditions, says Seabourn Pursuit is the second luxury expedition vessel in the line’s fleet of seven, including five ocean-ships.

Pursuit has just begun her maiden voyage with an eight-day trip from Valletta in Malta to Rome last month.

“By the time Pursuit makes its debut in the Kimberley region in June next year, she would have cruised in the Amazon, Antarctica and Papua New Guinea. That’s before arriving for her debut expedition season in the Kimberley by the middle of next year.

“By then, we expect to sell about 50 per cent to Aussie travellers and the rest to American and UK adventure seekers,” Mr West tells Cruise Passenger. He was speaking at a lunch held onboard an upmarket Lilypad, floating accommodation in Palm Beach, Sydney, which was kitted out to look like the lounge of Seabourn Pursuit.

Luxe all the way

Signature Seabourn French Montaudon champagne, caviar and Molton Brown toiletries were available on the Lilypad.

Mr West says the iconic Kimberley with its red sandstone gorges, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife and Aboriginal life and history, is the ideal setting for a truly, world-class expedition experience. In addition, Pursuit will visit Papua New Guinea, West Papua, Indonesia and sail across the South Pacific between Chile and Melanesia from March to October 2024.

The Polar Class ship has been designed and built for remote and diverse environments with close to 30,000 square feet of deck space with indoor and outdoor areas, providing guests with 270-degree views. It has eight dining restaurants serving gourmet cuisine. Pursuit can accommodate 264 guests in luxurious all- veranda suites including a pair of two-level Wintergarden suites.
