Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth majestically riding at anchor in Sydney today, before heading off to Newcastle on Monday for a right royal welcome!
The Cunarder’s first visit to the city will be marked with a civic ceremony to commemorate the line’s connections to the RAAF’s 450 squadron.
She will arrive at 7.45am to a three-gun salute, followed by a parade of the Captain and bell boys down Wharf Road .
A reception and RAAF honour guard will be on hand.
There will be a commemorative service at noon on the back deck to mark how the original Queen Elizabeth carried hundreds from the Williamstown-based squadron from Sydney to the Middle East.
The vessel moored today just off Bradleys Head. She was captured by Tim Faircloth of ilovecruising.com.au. and our own snapper.
Keep up to day here on Monday’s activities.
