The new adults only Virgin Voyages cruise line, owned by billionaire entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has had an “amazing and overwhelming” response.

The cruise line which is launching in 2020 will be closing its early deposit list on February 14, 2018. While cruise itineraries have yet to be announced, guests can put down a US$500 fully refundable deposit for pre-sale access.

Sir Richard Branson has promised cruisers that Virgin Voyagers will be a new style of cruising – the adults only ship which will accommodate for 2,800 ‘sailors’ as well as 1,150 crew members.

The ship’s official icon will be a topless mermaid and Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin said the ship will be “inspired by superyachts” and the ship will have “sea terraces” or balconies on 86 per cent of the cabins.

“She will be the most recognisable ship sailing the seven seas, delivering an irresistible sailor experience,” said Mr McAlpin. “We’re also committed to making sure our crew are the happiest at sea and will be proud to sail with us.”

The line also plans to rejuvenate the dining and relaxation and the line has assembled a ‘Creative Collective’, a group of design firms who have created spaces and rooms for Ace Hotels, The Standard High Line and the Mondrian Hotels.

Virgin Voyages will feature exciting ideas in entertainment and music to provide our Sailors (not passengers or cruisers) with a strong variety of programming options.

Virgin Voyages laid the keel for the first of its ships at the end of 2017 and the ship, which will be based in Miami will be sailing on week long cruises to the Caribbean.
