The newest ship from Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Treasure launched last month with a fanfare of classic characters from Pixar’s Toy Story, Star Wars as well as the World of Marvel heroes.
The Disney Treasure is the sixth and largest ship in the fleet – and the line has brought on some new features onboard. The ship accommodates 4000 passengers in 1256 staterooms.
Dining options
World of Marvel is one of three new restaurants in Disney Cruise Line’s included rotational dining concept. The others onboard include Plaza de Coco and 1923 – this means that all guests will get a change to try out all three. The best thing is your wait staff will rotate with you so your favourite drink order will always be on hand.
Along with family restaurants, buffets and specialty dining options, there is also 24-hour room service. Everything has a Disney take – the HeiHei Café is inspired by Moana’s pet rooster and Jumbeaux’s Sweets ice cream parlour is based on Jerry Jumbeaux Jr from Zootopia.
Each ship is built with new experiences, taking inspiration from the characters of in the Disney world. Coco de Plaza is the world’s first theatrical dining experience and is themed to the Disney-Pixar movie Coco. Guests will dine on Mexican cuisine while watching a two-part live action story complete with mariachi music.
What’s in it for the adults?
But while the DCL caters for families and the little ones, there are plenty of adult-only options. The Senses Spa on the ship is designed specifically for the grown-ups, and the private deck is filled with floating day beds as well as relaxation and treatment areas.
By night, the Periscope Pub, which is based on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea becomes an adult-only watering hole by night. For an extra charge, try the adults-only Palo Steakhouse and French restaurant, Enchanté, which has a menu designed by three-Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement.
What to do onboard the Disney Treasure
You won’t be bored onboard – there are plenty of activities for guests of all ages. Silent discos, pirate parties, sports courts, and movie under the stars.
DCL’s kids’ clubs are renowned for their interactivity as well as their design. Disney’s Oceaneer Club caters for children aged three to 10 where the kids can search for Snuggly Duckling with Rapunzel. While in the Marvel Super Hero Academy, the kids can even design their own superhero costumes.
There is also a brand-new theatrical production of Moana that takes place in the Walt Disney Theatre. The 60-minute stage adaption of the 2016 movies combines live action and special effects with puppetry.
And suspended above the upper decks is AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg – a thrill ride designed for passengers of all ages. Follow Mickey and Minnie through 760ft of winding tubes to find some legendary treasure. There is also a Toy Story-themed splash zone for families with toddlers.
The itineraries on the Disney Treasure
The Disney Treasure is sailing on a number of 7-night itineraries around the Eastern and Western Caribbean. A 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary includes port calls to Cozumel in Mexico, George Town, Grand Cayman, Falmouth in Jamaica as well as Disney Castaway Cay.
An Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Treasure visits St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands as well as Disney Castaway Cay.
