After a decade of running music charters on board Royal Caribbean ships, music specialist Choose Your Cruise has scratched its 2021 season and moved to 2022 instead.

Project manager Caitlin Manov told Cruise Passenger music stars Suzy Quatro were disappointed, but were standing by the operation as a highlight of their concert seasons.

Tens of thousands of Australian music fans have attended the concerts over more than a decade, which at one time spanned seperate rock, opera and musical itineraries.  But the pandemic has meant the cruises were cancelled in 2020 and now this year as well.

Ms Manov said the thousands of fans were disappointed but understood.  “They’ve been lovely,” she said.

Those that had bookings would be transferred to the new dates in 2022, on board Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas on November 9-16.

The seven-night charter of RCI’s Ovation of the Seas will host both the Crusin’ Country and Rock the Boat with a lineup of headline music performers such as Suzi Quatro, Lee Kernaghan and John Williamson.

All currently booked passengers on Super Cruise 2021 will automatically transfer to the new date.

“We strongly believe that 2022 will be a more suitable time to travel following the roll out of COVID-19 vaccines which will be comprehensively administered nation-wide by our new proposed date.

“On top of providing a memorable experience to our guests, it is imperative to us that our passengers can travel knowing their safety and health on board is at an absolute top priority,” said a CYC statement.

The cruises were sold by Cruiseco, recently acquired by Helloworld.  They will no longer be involved.
