Want to see what’s inside the new Celebrity Edge? Scheduled to debut at the end of November, her arrival is perhaps one of the most anticipated for 2018.
Celebrity Edge is a new prototype for the cruise line, which is normally known for their boutique offerings and luxurious amenities.
Now, the innovative ship, which will be the benchmark for the rest of the fleet, will have never-before-seen features like the exterior magic carpet, a moving platform which is cantilevered over the ships’ side. On one level turns into a bar, another level, a restaurant and on sea level, a viewing area.
Another main feature of the ship is The Eden, a three-story public area which has restaurants, loungers and bars. By day, it’s a quiet and relaxed area where guests can take part in enrichment programs and activities like yoga and cooking classes. And by night, becomes a sinful entertainment space which incorporates a theatre, with dining and nightlife.
More than 60 per cent of Edge’s 1,467 cabins are what the line calls, Infinite Verandas. The verandas have balconies that are incorporated into the main balcony area and the bi-fold doors in the rooms can be either closed to create a tradition room separated from the balcony, or left open so that the cabin blends in with the balcony.
The Edge will have 29 eateries and bars as well as four main dining rooms and seven new specialty restaurants.
In The Retreat, passengers have access to a private pool and lounge as well as 24/7 butler service. The Rooftop Garden offers games and activities during the day as well as outdoor movies by the evening.
The Theatre which is the main entertainment area which has four stage areas and three large moving projection screens. There will be five new shows including the Shakespeare-inspired play, A Hot Summer Night’s Dream.
For the kiddies, the line’s Camp At Sea has 500 activities in two spaces – one for the little ones and the other for teens.
She’s scheduled to be christened in Fort Lauderdale in Florida in early December and will sail to the Caribbean before moving to the Mediterranean for the 2019 summer season.
During the unveiling of the Edge, Celebrity also announced that her sister ship, the Celebrity Apex will be christened and launched from Southampton, United Kingdom in April 2020. Similar to Edge, the Apex will also have the Magic carpet and similar accommodation.
