- There has been speculation over whether Disney Cruise Line will continue sailing in Australia, or if it’s upcoming season could be its last.
- This speculation has been fuelled by reported poor sales, the upcoming debut of Disney Adventure in Singapore and a lack of a new season announcement.
- Now, Disney Wonder has disappeared from the Melbourne port schedule for 2026/27, leading to more speculation as to whether Disney is leaving Australia.
There has been much speculation that Disney may not return to Australia for the 2026/27 season, and recent developments have continued to fuel this conjecture.
Perhaps most worrying for Disney fans is that Disney Wonder sailings have suddenly disappeared off the Melbourne cruise schedule for the 2026/27 season.
Given that cruise ships have to book ports years in advance, it’s common to see ships pop up in forward port bookings well before any official sailings are announced, and until now Disney Wonder has been showing in the port schedules for Sydney and Melbourne.
However, scheduled sailings have suddenly disappeared from Melbourne’s port schedules, sparking worries that this could be some of the first solid evidence that Disney won’t be returning to Aussie shores again after the 2025/26 season.

The previous schedule showed a host of Melbourne sailings for Disney Wonder in 2026/27.
Previously, the booking schedule showed that Disney Wonder would arrive in the second week of November and sail cruises out of Melbourne for about two months until almost the end of December, however, now the ship doesn’t show at all.
As can be seen above, none of the previously scheduled cruises are now in the schedule.
It could be possible that it is a site error or a scheduling change but it isn’t looking promising for those hoping Disney cruise ships stay in Australia.
It is unlikely the ship would just be canceling its stop in Melbourne, as it would be extremely difficult to book two extra months of sailing out of Sydney in the middle of the cruise season, just over a year out from the sailing dates. Disney also doesn’t appear in the cruise schedule of Brisbane for 2026/27.
While Disney Wonder remains in the schedule for Sydney’s overseas passenger terminal, and in the schedule for Eden as well, it’s common for cruise lines to book years ahead and then cancel port calls if they have to, which has happened with recent ships that have pulled out of Australia such as Resilient Lady and Pacific Explorer.
Disney Cruise Lines has been contacted for comment.
Why else are people thinking that Disney might not return to Australia?
It’s already getting late for the announcement
For its past two seasons, Disney has announced its new Australia sailings in mid-June, now we’re about to enter into August and no news has been shared on new sailings. This would give Disney only just over a year to try and sell the cruises, of which they’ve already been struggling to do.
Reported low sales
Last season, it was reported that many Disney cruises in Australia weren’t sailing at full-capacity, and Australian sailings have seen a series of discounts that until then, hadn’t been seen on any Disney sailings, as Disney tried to fill up its ships.
Disney Adventure is set to debut
Disney Adventure, Disney’s massive new ship is coming to Singapore, meaning Disney will have another massive new ship in the region and could be expecting Aussie guests to go to Singapore instead if they’re looking to sail with Disney.
Previous Cruise Passenger analysis has shown that it can actually be cheaper to sail with Disney in Singapore for many Aussies, and the massive new ship is by far Disney’s biggest, with plenty of capacity for Aussie passengers.
Rumours continue to swirl
A cruiser recently shared on a Disney cruise online forum, “Just called and spoke to a cast member for Disney Wonder…he told me that Disney Wonder isn’t coming back to Australia for the 2026/27 season and nothing is on the list for us yet.
“It’s been assigned to another part of the world, and as of now, they don’t have any cruise ships assigned to Australia.”
This information was shared shortly before Wonder was taken off the port schedules.
Disney Magic doesn’t seem to be on its way
There was also speculation that rather than leaving Australia, Disney would bring a different ship to our shores, rather than another season of Disney Wander. Some were speculating that this could be Disney Magic, however, she’s already shown as booked in Port Galveston for November and December of 2026, meaning it’s less likely that she’s on the way to Australia.
It is a pity that no ships come to Melbourne because of the State Governments Grab for extra Port Fees, we now have to go to Sydney to go on Cruising. The dress code on board for formal nights SHOULD be FORMAL not come as you are. When guests book a cruise they are informed that there will be certain attire for Dinner they should abide by it. In the past I was running late from a shore excursion I forgot my Dinner Jacket was refused entry until I went back to our cabin to get my jacket then I was allowed entry.
There is nothing wrong with having to dress for Dinner on Certain occasions
Recently on another line the Captains Circle Function some people turned up dressed in thongs ,shorts, tee shirt, wearing a cap then proceeded to have photos with the Captain this WE this felt was totally dis respectful to the Captain on this occasion
Very obvious why Disney may not be returning to OZ….The poor sales are for one single reason – COST.
The cruises on offer are playing on the brand the kids who love Disney and as such are priced on the very high side.
