France’s Cognac region has a new boutique accomodation spot, with La Nauve Hotel and Jardin opening its door. The modest hotel has just 12 rooms. And fine-dining on-site, a cognac bar, a library, brasserie and swimming pool.

The site for La Nauve Hotel used to be a distillery and has been under construction for four years, having an internal renovation while the exterior and facade have remained. The entrance hall provides instant luxury, lit completely by chandeliers and centre-pieced by a grand staircase.

Guests will have access to the Paradis, a small hidden cellar room, where pre or post dinner brandies will be consumed. The luxury also extends to subtle furnishings, with bed headboards made from roots of local sequoia trees.

La Nauve Hotel’s garden has a sequoia tree, canal, fruits trees, vegetable patch, pool, rose bushes and more. Guests will have access to a private boat and canoes to explore the Charente River, as well as e-bikes to explore the surrounding grounds.

The on-site restaurant Notes, will serve dishes that are nostalgic to Chef Anthony Carballo. Come summertime, food will be served in garden, and in the winter, the fireplace will provide an intimate indoor atmosphere.

Guests can take their choice of 70 bottles of cognac, as well as a custom cognac cocktail.
