Hilton debuts in Tasmania with DoubleTree by Hilton

With Hobart’s star constantly rising in the hotel industry, Hilton is finally carving out its own slice of Tasmania’s crispy capital with the opening of the new 206-key DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart.

The hotel is, surprisingly, the first Tassie property for the stalwart company. And it joins one of the best hotel scenes in Australia, sharing the diminutive city with Marriott’s award-winning The Tasman, as well as acclaimed heritage properties like Henry Jones Art Hotel and Moss Hotel.

Offering superlative views of Mount Wellington and the Derwent River, the $65 million hotel features 125 king rooms and more than 80 deluxe twin rooms across seven categories, offering up to 33 square metres of living space enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows, rain showers, 50-inch televisions, Bluetooth speakers, hairdryers and working desks.

Leatherwood Bar & Kitchen joins Hobart’s strong dining scene with a Modern Australian focus and access to some of the country’s best produce. The kitchen will be open all day, handling breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as room service seven days a week.

Other amenities include all the standards for a premium hotel. You’ve got the heated indoor pool with a sauna, two meeting rooms, and a gym with round-the-clock access to guests.

The opening comes just as Hilton surpasses 100 properties in Asia Pacific and plans 80 more for the region in the coming years.

Of course, one of the most unique things about the DoubleTree by Hilton brand is its beloved complimentary choc chip cookies. This property will, thankfully, be no exception with each guest offered one of the treats upon check-in (although you can also just ask for one whenever you’d like).

“We know Tasmania has what the world wants, and it is a testament to our exceptional destination offering that a brand as a reputable as Hilton has launched here in Hobart,” said Premier of Tasmania, Jeremy Rockliff.

“Adding more than 200 premium hotel rooms to the State’s landscape will support our tourism and hospitality sector and help keep our economy strong.”

This also means that members of Hilton’s guest loyalty program, Hilton Honors, with status now have a preferred stay in in Tasmania’s cosy capital.
