Is the 120-night Grand World Cruise on Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ flagship, Columbus, the cheapest fare on sale?

CMV has just announced a saving of $11,160 per person if you book a 120-night world cruise in a deluxe balcony cabin by 18 March. The world cruise now costs $35,999 pp. In addition you will enjoy an onboard credit of Stg2500. This works out to be $300 a day per person.

The world cruise departs London for Sydney on 6 January 2020 visiting 27 countries including the Azores, Caribbean, Japan, Vietnam, Egypt and Jordan.

Cruise Passenger compared the price for world cruises among five other cruise lines including Princess, Oceania, Viking, Silversea and Regent Seven Seas.

Comparisons like this are always difficult because inclusions make like-for-like complex. Sometimes air fares, shore excursions and all drinks are included.

CMV is a high value line which doesn’t claim to be luxury, but offers a strong value proposition. Drinks and shore excursions aren’t included.

Price-wise, the closest rival is Princess Cruises which offers a 111-day world cruise in 2020 visiting 42 destinations across five continents with prices starting from US$24,999 ($34,988) per person. This works out to be $315 per day.

The 2020 World cruise on Pacific Princess will sail a round trip from Los Angeles or Fort Lauderdale visiting Cape Town, Polynesia, New Zealand, Sydney, Singapore, Zanzibar and the Maldives. The 111-day round trip voyage will leave Fort Lauderdale on 5 January 2020 while the 111-day round trip leave Los Angeles on 20 January 2020.

The next affordable world cruise is Oceania Cruises. The line has a 180-day 2020 World Cruise on board Insignia with prices starting from US$47,299 ($66,209) per person. This works out to be $368 a day per person. The world cruise from Miami to San Francisco will visit 95 ports across four continents and visit 67 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Some of the off-the-beaten track destinations include Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Asia, Bering Sea, Alaska before ending in San Francisco. Complimentary first class airfares are included.

Viking Ocean World Cruise 2020 has a 119-day itinerary on board Viking Sun. It will depart Los Angeles to London on 4 January 2020 visiting 55 ports in 29 countries with prices starting from US$45,995 ($64,406) per person. This works out to be $541 a day per person. An added bonus – Viking offers free business class airfare for transatlantic flights.

Silversea World Cruise on Silver Whisper is a 140 night voyage visiting 62 ports in 32 countries. It departs Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam on 6 January 2020 with prices starting from US$62,000 ($86,787) per person. This works out to be $620 a day per person. Highlights include the Chilean Fjords, Antarctica, Easter Island, Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, British Isles and Norwegian Fjords. Complimentary round trip business class fares are included.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises tops that, offering a 2020 world cruise of 131 nights board Seven Seas Mariner. The cruise departs Miami on 6 January 2020 with prices starting from US$67,999 ($95,185) per person. This works out to be $727 a day per person. Navigate the World cruise will call at 66 ports, 36 UNESCO World Heritage sites and visit the Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, Polynesia, South Pacific, Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, Asia, India, Arabian Peninsula, Jerusalem, Tuscany, Azores and Bermuda. Free first class airfare and shore excursions are included.
