Ever since its partnership with Royal Caribbean, Silversea has been one of the most active cruise lines, announcing new ships and food offerings. Perhaps most interesting was the Silversea World Expedition voyage, the first of its kind.
The journey aboard the Silver Cloud starts in Ushuaia, Chile and ends in Tromsø, Norway. The 167-day voyage will call at 107 of the planet’s most amazing destinations, in 30 must-visit countries—including six new ports of call for Silversea (Naxos, Folegandros, Nafpaktos, Ksamil, Bejaïa, and Fort William).
The two-bedroom Owner’s Suite on Silver Cloud is offered at a price just short of USD$1 million for the entire World Cruise.
The ship: Silver Cloud
The Silver Cloud is one of the flagship vessels in the Silversea fleet. With her recent refurbishment, she is one of the most spacious of the polar class vessels. Her four dining options will tantalise your taste buds and as 80% of her suites include a veranda, watching a breaching whale or a few cavorting seals has never been more personal. She also has 18 brand new Zodiacs for guests to explore some of the remote destinations in the world.
The suite: Silver Suite
The stylish and sophisticated one-bedroom has expansive verandas, which are excellent for taking pictures and bird watching. The comfortable space is designed for longer voyages and has a built-in wardrobe for those Moncler down jackets as well as a beautiful marbled bathroom, filled with BVLGARI bath amenities. In this suite class, guests are assigned a butler who will deliver afternoon canapes as well as launder your clothes.
The itinerary: World Expedition Cruise
The expedition, which starts in Ushuaia in Chile has 10 legs to the voyage. The first leg, which explores some of the most remote destinations in the world, is where you will see stunning wildlife. There are awe-inspiring glaciers calving as well as wildlife like penguins and seals. The Silver Cloud then takes you to the warmer waters of the Pacific Ocean where guests will swim with manta rays in Bora Bora and see white sandy beaches of Papeete. The ship then navigates to remote islands like Samarai and Kwato, Rabul and Madang in Papua New Guinea before making landfall in Australia. From Cairns, the Silver Cloud sails to Singapore and visits ports like Kupang, Palopo in Sulawesi. The next legs of the voyage include calls to Cochin in India, Colombo in Sri Lanka, Luxor in Egypt, Naxos, Athens in Greece, ports in Albania, Seville in Spain and much more. The journey ends sailing around Iceland, where guests will see the puffins, roosting along the famous Hornbjarg Cliffs and view polar bears in the Svalbard Northern Region.
The highlights: the one-off shore excursions
One of the unique things about this cruise is some of the never-before-experienced shore excursions. For example, guests will enjoy a private dinner on London Tower Bridge’s walkway or an exclusive Viking feast in Kjarnaskogur Forest in Iceland.
This itinerary is designed for travellers who love to explore remote destinations. This voyage is for those who want to see some of the most untouched places in the world, meet with locals, see wildlife, but travel in comfort and style. You’ll also need to be pretty wealthy!
