As cruise lines in Australia gear up for the busy summer season next month, New Zealandโs Biosecurity authorities have stepped up efforts to ensure 57 cruise ships scheduled to visit NZ should have their hulls properly cleaned to comply with the countryโs biofouling rules.
New Zealandโs last cruise season involved a lot of heartbroken passengers, as many ships were turned away from entering Fiordland National Park due to new biosecurity regulations. Many cruise ships were turned away due to their hulls containing biohazards, even some that had been recently cleaned.
