Your journey begins when you fly into South Africa’s vibrant “City of Gold”, Johannesburg. Explore marketplaces, craft breweries and museums, or simply unwind in your five-star luxury room at the Peermont D’oreale Grande Hotel.

On day two, transfer to the secluded Bakubung Bush Lodge for a three-night stay nestled within the Pilanesberg National Park. Home to South Africa’s abundant wildlife and birds, guides will lead daily bush walks and game drives to track down Africa’s “Big Five” – the elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and rhino.

Big game is swapped for big waterfalls when you fly to Zambia’s historic Livingstone for your three-night stay at the David Livingstone Safari Lodge. Explore one of the world’s largest waterfalls with a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls’ spectacular viewpoints.

Take a trip back to the romantic age of steam rail travel onboard the Royal Livingstone Express, an expertly restored locomotive train. Dinner will be served with a view as the train winds through the spectacular Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and Zambezi River Valley and offers a chance to glimpse giraffes or a dazzle of zebras.

You’ll then fly to the port city of Cape Town on South Africa’s southwestern coast. “The Mother City of South Africa” is renowned for its scenic vistas of Table Mountain, which beckons visitors up to its flat top by way of cable car, where you can take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the city below.

Day nine sees you depart Cape Town and embark the MSC Sinfonia for your 30-night cruise. With 980 cabins, MSC Sinfonia offers the comforts, quality and choice of a resort ship.

Themed parties, inviting pools, indulgent culinary delights and even mini-golf are just some of the amusements and entertainments to get acquainted with as you settle in onboard.

The cruises’s first port of call is the sunny coastal city of Durban where you can soak up the fascinating Zulu culture alongside the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on the Golden Mile esplanade.

You will then say farewell to South Africa as you cruise up the continent’s east coast to your next destination, which will allow you the time to indulge in the ship’s many mouth-watering dining options.

Explore the beautiful island paradise of Réunion and its rainforests, waterfalls, vanilla plantations and pristine white sandy beaches, nestled between Mauritius and Madagascar.

The adventurous can hike to the Piton des Neiges, and the rest of us can simply float in the crystal turquoise island lagoons.

Sail into Port Louis, Mauritius’s capital city, for two days of cultural immersion. Hike, stroll, snorkel, or boat your way around the idyllic mountains and coastal waters to discover stunning natural attractions and spot whales and dolphins.

The Seychelles are an archipelago of more than a hundred islands and will be your next stop as you make your way north. Visitors have the chance to experience the unique flora and fauna of the region and if you enjoy diving and snorkelling, you’re in the right place.

With five days at sea, MSC Sinfonia’s entertainment options move up a gear. The ship’s theatre, Teatro San Carlo, presents talent from across the globe in big-stage performances from talented musicians, dancers, magicians and acrobats. For more music experiences, live bands and singers add to the ambience of the ship’s bars and lounge, or dance the night away in the nightclub style Pascha Club Disco.

Saudi Arabia’s city of Jeddah is your next stop and the perfect place to explore the old traditions of the Middle East. Jeddah’s Old Town, Al Balad, dates back to the 7th century and is a World Heritage Site where you can admire historic palaces and traditional ‘souks’, or marketplaces.

Unwind and relax from your days exploring Middle Eastern bazaars in the MSC Sinfonia Aurea Spa. Guests can choose a soothing sauna or traditional Balinese massage, refresh with a new hairstyle or hair treatment at the ship’s salon or barber shop, or book in an aesthetic treatment with one of the highly specialised staff in the beauty salon.

Next, the small port town of Safaga on the Red Sea coast in Egypt attracts visitors the world over for its black sand beaches and turquoise waters. Outdoor adventurers can go windsurfing, kitesurfing, snorkelling or float in the healing properties of the extremely salty mineral waters of the Red Sea. On land, explore the temples of Luxor and Karnak.

The following day, you will arrive in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh known for its sandy beaches, coral reefs and Ras Muhammad National Park.

From Sokna, cruise up the busy shipping lane of the Suez Canal connecting the Red and Mediterranean seas. The Sinfonia will be the perfect vantage point to take photos of the exotic Port Said, Ismailia and Suez as the ship traverses the canal.

Day 35 welcomes you to the Mediterranean, starting on the beautiful Greek island of Crete and its lively port city of Heraklion. The city is bursting with heritage and culture from its water fountains to its Venetian architecture. The Palace of Knossos and Palace of Phaistos offer opportunities to fully immerse yourself in the well-preserved monuments of ancient Minoan civilisation.
