Your journey begins when you fly into South Africa’s vibrant “City of Gold”, Johannesburg. Explore marketplaces, craft breweries and museums, or simply unwind in your five-star luxury room at the Peermont D’oreale Grande Hotel. 

On day two, transfer to the secluded Bakubung Bush Lodge for a three-night stay nestled within the Pilanesberg National Park. Home to South Africa’s abundant wildlife and birds, guides will lead daily bush walks and game drives to track down Africa’s “Big Five” – the elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and rhino. 

Big game is swapped for big waterfalls when you fly to Zambia’s historic Livingstone for your three-night stay at the David Livingstone Safari Lodge. Explore one of the world’s largest waterfalls with a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls’ spectacular viewpoints.

Take a trip back to the romantic age of steam rail travel onboard the Royal Livingstone Express, an expertly restored locomotive train. Explore the beautiful island paradise of Réunion and its rainforests, waterfalls, vanilla plantations and pristine white sandy beaches, nestled between Mauritius and Madagascar.

The adventurous can hike to the Piton des Neiges, and the rest of us can simply float in the crystal turquoise island lagoons. 

Sail into Port Louis, Mauritius’s capital city, for two days of cultural immersion. Hike, stroll, snorkel, or boat your way around the idyllic mountains and coastal waters to discover stunning natural attractions and spot whales and dolphins. 

The Seychelles are an archipelago of more than a hundred islands and will be your next stop as you make your way north. Visitors have the chance to experience the unique flora and fauna of the region and if you enjoy diving and snorkelling, you’re in the right place.

With five days at sea, MSC Sinfonia’s entertainment options move up a gear. The ship’s theatre, Teatro San Carlo, presents talent from across the globe in big-stage performances from talented musicians, dancers, magicians and acrobats. Saudi Arabia’s city of Jeddah is your next stop and the perfect place to explore the old traditions of the Middle East. Jeddah’s Old Town, Al Balad, dates back to the 7th century and is a World Heritage Site where you can admire historic palaces and traditional ‘souks’, or marketplaces. 

Unwind and relax from your days exploring Middle Eastern bazaars in the MSC Sinfonia Aurea Spa. Next, the small port town of Safaga on the Red Sea coast in Egypt attracts visitors the world over for its black sand beaches and turquoise waters. On land, explore the temples of Luxor and Karnak.
