MS Oosterdam was built in 2003 and refurbished in 2015. It features Holland America Line’s latest amenities such as a Digital Workshop, Pinnacle Grill and The Culinary Arts Center. This is a family ship with plenty to entertain kids of all ages with Club HAL. The 82,305 tonne Oosterdam has 11 passenger decks and can carry 1,964 passengers with 812 crew.

MS Oosterdam has 959 staterooms in various price categories, ranging from 151 square feet Interior cabins to 1,150 square feet Pinnacle Suites. There are 29 staterooms with wheelchair accessibility. All staterooms have Sealy® Premium Euro-Top mattresses, bathrobes, massage showerheads, salon-quality hair dryers, toiletries by Elemis Aromapure, fresh fruit on request, on-demand interactive television, ice service, shoeshine service and nightly turndown service.

The main restaurant aboard Oosterdam is Vista Dining Room on the Lower Promenade Deck. This is a two-deck venue with one level for guests who choose to dine with fixed-seating and the other for open-seating. Breakfast (7-10am) and lunch (noon to 2.30pm) are open seating. Other restaurants on board are the Pinnacle Grill, Le Cirque (fine dining), Canaletto (Italian) and Lido Market (buffet).

The spa on Deck 9 offers treatments including body wraps, teeth whitening, massages, acupuncture, facials and water therapies. It has men’s and womenÂ’’s steam rooms, massage room, a dry float bed and ceramic lounges. The Salon offers hairstyling, cutting, eyebrow shaping, waxing, pedicures, manicures and facial treatments.

Club HAL provides a wide variety of age-appropriate activities and facilities children aged three to 17 years. Three-six year olds can join activities such as pirate treasure hunts, storytelling, crafts, ice-cream sundae parties and a farewell pajama party. Tweens (seven-12 years) take part in Xbox tournaments, relay races, scavenger hunts and karaoke disco parties. The Loft for Teens (13-17 years) has mocktail mixology classes, late night sporting competitions, hip hop classes, scavenger hunts, tech classes and teen-only night club events. When there are more than 100 children on board, a HAL Talent Show is offered. The Culinary Arts Center has cooking classes for kids and teens.

“We sailed out of Tampa, Florida on December 9th headed for a seven-day cruise to the western Caribbean. Embarkation was really smooth at this port and with Holland America.
