Riverside Luxury Cruises is expanding their fleet in a bid to make a run for the luxury river cruising market. In addition to the five ships in the fleet, the company has announced the debut of Riverside Mahler in Europe for 2028.

Previously of the Crystal Cruises branding, Riverside Mahler is set to sail along Europe’s two main rivers, The Rhine and The Danube. She will join sister vessel Riverside Debussy on the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube Rivers. The addition to the line is an indication of the company’s expanding presence across key European waterways.

The announcement builds on Riverside’s 2023 acquisition of a five-ship fleet originally operated by Crystal Cruises, which included Mozart, Debussy, Ravel, Mahler and Bach. Since then, the company has progressively introduced the vessels into service across Europe, with three ships already sailing under the Riverside banner.

Jennifer Halboth, CEO of Riverside Luxury Cruises says “Introducing Riverside Mahler gives us the opportunity to take everything we’ve built so far and apply it to the Rhine in new, creative ways – more access, more flexibility and a fresh take on a river everyone thinks they already know.”

“As demand for true luxury river cruising continues to grow, this expansion allows us to build on our commitment to delivering an exceptional, highly personalized experience while honouring the legacy of these remarkable ships.”

The company says the debut of Riverside Mahler is part of a long-term strategy to grow the fleet in a measured and intentional way while maintaining its focus on space, service and elevated onboard experiences that define the brand. Themed sailings, including new wine-focused itineraries designed to appeal to experiential luxury travellers are also expected to be on offer from 20238.

Itineraries and further details of the launch will be announced closer to the debut in 2028.
