Who handled the pandemic best? Vote in this year’s special Reader’s Choice awards

No doubt 2020 will go down in cruise history as the year of the pandemic. This year’s Cruise Passenger Reader’s Choice Awards reflect it.

This year tested ships and their crews like no other. The industry has always claimed superlative service and training. This was the time for all of that to pay off.

So who managed the crisis best; who went out of their way to put the passenger first?

How can you judge? We think you should ask yourself these questions:

  • Who acted decisively and quickly to halt itineraries?
  • Who managed the challenge of getting passengers home best?
  • Who repatriated their crews with the most humanity?

The operation, beginning in March, involved hundreds of thousands of people.

Once that was done, there was the thorny issue of refunds versus Future Cruise Credits.

Even then, there was another challenge: how to handle rebooking when no-one knew when it would be safe to sail?

In all of this confusion, many lines put passengers first. Some undoubtedly penny-pinched, hiding behind the contract small print.
