Windstar has announced a brand new menu that is not only entirely plant-based, but also is completely free of any salt, oil, sugar, and gluten.

With the menu design finalised and the culinary team currently being trained, the new menu is set to roll out from June onwards. For those who aren’t overly keen on plant-based dining, or at least not for every meal, there’s no need to worry as another dining will continue as usual.

The menu was made in collaboration with the National Health Association, to ensure all six of the company yachts have healthy and planet-friendly dining options.

“The National Health Association points out that vegetarian and vegan diets are not always healthy, and for meals to be truly health-promoting, they also need to be minimally processed and prepared.

“We’ve seen an increased demand for whole-food, plant-based dishes from our customers, and we’re really excited to work with the NHA to bring them something that’s nutritious and delicious. As a side benefit, plant-based foods also reduce our environmental footprint – a major goal of Windstar’s – allowing us to tread more lightly on this planet.”

If you want a little taster of what you can expect, some meal options include Roasted Butternut Squash Velouté with Baked Pumpkin Seeds, Penne Rigate Pasta, with Crisp Vegetables and Espelette Pepper Sauce, Chia Seed Truffles with Dates & Coconut Sauce and plenty more, as well as added bonus of daily smoothies at breakfast.

Wanda Huberman, executive director of the National Health Association says the team at NHA is extremely impressed with the Windstar culinary team’s work in crafting the menu.

“The Windstar culinary team has knocked it out of the park in executing the specific requirements of our meals.

“Every meal is absolutely delicious and served in a beautiful presentation with so much variety that no one will leave a meal feeling hungry or less than satisfied.”

Lisa McCarl, a former open heart recovery nurse and now a travel advisor told FB 101: “More people are changing the way they eat to prevent and reverse diet-related disease. Why not make it easy for them to continue that healthy lifestyle while sailing on the trip of a lifetime? Windstar is doing a phenomenal job in making healthy cruising a reality.”
