The new adults-only cruise line from billionaire and entrepreneur Richard Branson, Virgin Voyages, has unveiled new images of the line’s first ship.

The ship which will be launched in 2020 will have a nightclub, an outdoor lounge for suite guests, a Mexican restaurant, a cabaret-type theatre and plenty of watering holes.

The renderings were revealed at a press conference in New York where president and CEO for Virgin Voyages Tom McAlpin introduced some of the team behind the design of the ship.

The Dock is described as “an outdoor lifestyle space with a focus on comfort, social life and an appreciation for the ship’s gorgeous views”.

“At the core of our Epic Sea Change For All is ensuring that the spaces on our ships are well-styled, distinct and reflective of the dynamic experience we want to bring to our sailors,” said Mr McAlpin.

“Our design partners together with our internal design team have dreamed up eye-catching, intimate and alluring spaces that we can’t wait to see come to life.”

Here’s a rundown of what to expect on the ship.

Athletic Club

Inspired by the yachting culture, the Athletic Club will have the largest daybed at sea

The outdoor space which is at the top of the ship has been inspired by the yachting culture. This area will have the largest daybed at sea, a stunning red and white striped semi-circle lounger as well as a 220-square-foot area of triple netting where cruises can lay and overlook the decks below, as if guests were laying on a catamaran. The Athletic Club spans the entire ship’s aft which has cabanas as well as bar service.

Richard’s Rooftop

This specialised area which is designed for suite guests will be filled with sci-fi looking circular lounges and giant umbrellas will be anchored by a full serviced bar.

Pink Agave

The upmarket Mexican restaurant, Pink Agave features blue metallic lighting fixtures, oversized banquet tables as well as porthole windows to let in natural light. For a more intimate dining experience, there will be elongated curved loungers in the centre of the room for couples. There will also be a private dining room for larger groups.
