The newest ship to P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet, the Pacific Adventure arrived in Sydney yesterday and will be departing on her first sailing on Saturday.
And Cruise Passenger got the first look at the ship before she sets sail on her three-night voyage, including a demonstration on how celebrity chef Luke Mangan makes his famous burgers.
The newly transformed ship is the cruise line’s third and final ship to join its fleet and will be homeported in Sydney year-round.
Onboard, there are new features like waterslides, the exclusive Byron Bay Beach Club and 21 dining options including Mangan’s casual poolside Burger Bar.
P&O Cruises Australia President, Marguerite Fitzgerald, said the addition of Pacific Adventure to its fleet is a landmark event for Australia’s homegrown cruise line: “Waving our third ship in the fleet off on her maiden voyage will be a truly momentous occasion for us as we sail into the summer cruise season. We can’t wait for guests to experience her incredible new features and spaces across this ship has to enjoy.
“Barista coffee is brewing, pizza ovens are heating up and the Twin Racer waterslides are ready for cruise-goers to splash out. We couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming Pacific Adventure’s guests onboard this Saturday,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
There are 60+ daily activities, including the P&O Edge Adventure Park.
The Byron Beach Club is a private access area available to guests booking into the Byron suites or mini-suites. Passengers staying in this area will get daily private breakfast in Angelo’s, priority tender tickets, a bottomless fruit basket, and branded Byron Beach Club flip-flops to keep.
The Oasis is an adults-only retreat is complete with kid-free pools and stunning sea vistas.
The ship also has first-of-its-kind Twin Racer Waterslides where guests can race each other. The two 135-meter tubes include two sections that are transparent so racers can keep score on their opponent.
For entertainment, Blanc de Blanc, Uncorked, the latest creation from Creative Director Scott Maidment, Blanc de Blanc is the new risqué, Parisian-inspired show. The six-member cast will show off their showcase of world-class cabaret and acrobatic performances.
And the Pacific Adventure has several new bars onboard including the Adventure Hotel which serves a range of craft beers; the Blue Room, an intimate music venue, which will feature live performances from some of Australia’s leading musicians. And by night, the over 18’s can head up to the ship’s new nightclub, Altitude, situated on the top of deck 18.
