It’s the ship that’s been dubbed as the ‘World’s Biggest Weekend’ and Royal Caribbean has just christened its latest vessel, Utopia of the Seas.

It’s the line’s sixth Oasis Class ship and on hand for the naming ceremony at Port Canaveral was the ship’s Godmother, GRAMMY-winning singer Meghan Trainor.

She was also joined by Royal Caribbean executives, Utopia of the Seas crew members as well as the legendary Rev Run and DJ Ruckas spinning tunes to get the party going.

Trainor was announced as the Godmother which longstanding maritime tradition of bestowing safekeeping of the ship, its crew and passengers who will sail on Utopia of the Seas.

But she also held a special performance in Utopia of the Seas’ open-air AquaTheater where she sang her hit son ‘All About That Bass’.

“Becoming Utopia’s godmother and being here for this incredible celebration with Royal Caribbean is a dream come true,” said Meghan Trainor, godmother of Utopia of the Seas.

“From performing on a breathtaking stage while we’re in the middle of the ocean to having my fans here to sing and dance with me and experiencing it all with my family – Utopia really is the ultimate short getaway. I’m so honoured to be part of the memories so many will make here.”

Utopia of the Seas has been dubbed the ‘World’s Biggest Weekend’ offering year-round three- and four-night cruises from port Canaveral to Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, Royal Caribbean’s private island.

With over eight hot tubs, five pools and three water slides there is something for everyone.

  • Enjoy pool days designed for every mood, from adults only, chillaxed or fun-packed there are vibes of all kinds across the five pools.
  • Tucked away is the adults-only Solarium pool and the exclusive Suite Sun Deck, both tranquil escapes to chill.
  • If you are dialling up the party are the resort-style and sloping beach-entry pools, three Lime & Coconut bars.
  • The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides and more than a few spots to grab a bite to refuel, including Spare Tire the new poolside food truck for a post-swim snack.
  • The Ultimate Abyss, FlowRider surf simulator, 10-story zip line, and who can forget the longest dry slide at sea is 43 feet longer at 259 feet. This speeds through 10 decks with the new zoom booster rollers, transparent racing windows and surprising twists and turns. What a fun way to slide into weekend mode.
  • When you depart the ship visit CocoCay and turn up the heat for more weekend energy for your short getaway. The private island features more of everything.
