We all sometimes have problems parallel parking, and so did this Holland America captain.

Last weekend, two Holland America Line’s ships had a minor accident, where no one was hurt. The Oosterdam struck Nieuw Amsterdam when it was docking stern to stern at Vancouver Port, near Canada Place last Saturday.

According to a statement from the cruise line, no injuries were reported; all required repairs are well above the waterline and the seaworthiness of both ships is not affected.

Six of Nieuw Amsterdam’s stateroom verandas suffered damage from the collision and Oosterdam also suffered minimal damage on its exteriors above the waterline.

The two ships collided around 6.30 a.m. when the Oosterdam was coming into berth.

Repairs had taken place immediately and disembarkation on both ships proceeded as usual.

Twitter user @d_pineau said, “I was on the Oosterdam and we definitely heard it and felt it. It was a parallel parking job gone wrong!”

Both cruises are also set to embark on schedule, with Nieuw Amsterdam heading to Alaska and Oosterdam to Seattle.
