Star Voyager – once Pacific Explorer – is about to start sailing out of Vietnam and Hong Kong

  • Star Voyager – the vessel that was previously known as Pacific Explorer – will soon begin a series of sailings out of Vietnam and Hong Kong.
  • Executives have reported that Aussies are interested in getting on the ship.
  • The ship will also be sailing from other Southeast Asian destinations.

StarCruises, the cruise line that is now the owner of Star Voyager, which was previously the beloved Pacific Explorer as part of P&O Cruises Australia, is about to start sailings out of Vietnam and Hong Kong.

The company has rapidly completed the refurbishment and is already sailing as part of StarCruises.

StarCruises president Michael Goh has previously said that the cruise line has been advertising in Australia, as they know Aussies love the ship and many would be keen to try it and be a part of its new life as Star Voyager.

Australians can try three different itineraries out of Phu My port in Vietnam, allowing them to explore Vietnam before and after their cruise.

The ship will be travelling around Asia and offering cruises out of many different ports. Guests can also cruise out of Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong.

StarCruises announced this week a homeport deployment of the Star Voyager in Hong Kong, on June 27, 2025. Star Voyager will set sail from the heart of the city, and extend its Hong Kong deployment for an additional eleven weeks, covering the autumn season with departures now scheduled until 14 November 2025..

The Star Voyager will offer two, three, five, and eight-day cruise options to Okinawa (Naha and Ishigaki) in Japan, as well as to Keelung, Kaohsiung, and Penghu in Taiwan.

International travellers, including those from Australia, can enjoy the added convenience of a pre- or post-cruise stay in Hong Kong, making the city a prime gateway to an unforgettable cruise experience.

Additionally, StarCruises is returning to the popular two-night weekend high seas cruise, departing every Friday.

Under the new StarCruises brand, we are thrilled to introduce our latest cruise ship, the Star Voyager, and to have her homeport in Hong Kong—a city with a long-standing history and strong connection to our brand,” said Mr. Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises.

“With the support of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, we are confident that we will invigorate the local cruise industry, boost the Fly cruise and Rail cruise sectors, and meet the growing demand for exciting summer vacations.”
