Princess Cruises has unveiled its largest Alaska season yet for 2027, featuring eight ships, 17 itineraries and the return of the Star Princess.
Most cruisers heading to the Last Frontier opt for Princess Cruises, which has been sailing Alaska since 1969. Expanding on its success, the cruise line has announced it will deploy a fleet of eight ships and offer stays at five signature wilderness lodges. Its fleet will also make 85 stops at Glacier Bay National Park, taking more guests than any other cruise line.
From Ketchikan and Skagway to Icy Strait Point and Juneau, cruisers will experience some of the state’s most scenic and charming ports.
Headlining the season is Star Princess, the first of the line’s Sphere Class ships to sail in Alaska. She’ll be joined by fleet mates including Coral Princess, Discovery Princess, Crown Princess, Emerald Princess, Island Princess, Royal Princess and Ruby Princess, which will offer everything from week-long Glacier Bay adventures to 16-day voyages from Los Angeles.
“Few places captivate like Alaska – its beauty, its people and its sense of wonder,” said Terry Thornton, Chief Commercial Officer, Princess Cruises.
“That’s why our team puts so much heart into every detail of our Alaska Season. For 2027, we’ve designed experiences to bring guests closer to the soul of the Great Land – closer to glaciers, closer to wildlife, and closer to local culture and communities both onboard and ashore – all in a way only Princess can deliver.”
Star Princess and the Inside Passage
Returning as the star of the season, Star Princess will sail seven-day Inside Passage round-trip voyages from Seattle every Sunday. As the first Sphere Class ship to cruise Alaska, she offers guests modern design, elevated amenities and panoramic views in the three-storey dining room. She’ll be joined on the Seattle run by Royal Princess, also sailing seven-day roundtrips that include Glacier Bay National Park and depart on Saturdays.
For those travelling from California, Ruby Princess will sail 10-day Inside Passage itineraries from San Francisco, featuring Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, while Emerald Princess will operate two 16-day round-trip voyages from Los Angeles, with the addition of Glacier Bay.
For those seeking extended adventures, Crown Princess, Discovery Princess, Royal Princess and Star Princess also offer nine and 10-day Inside Passage voyages.
Voyage of the glaciers
Taking cruisers on a one-way, seven-day journey between Vancouver and Anchorage (Whittier), the line’s Voyage of the Glaciers itineraries include two glacier-viewing days and visits to Glacier Bay National Park. All northbound cruises also include a More Ashore late-night stay in Juneau. Sailing aboard Coral Princess, Island Princess, Crown Princess and Discovery Princess, there are also options to combine the itinerary with a land adventure to Denali National Park, or combine two sailings to create a 14-day Grand Adventure roundtrip.
Cruisetours: where land meets sea
Princess’s 2027 Cruisetour program pairs Alaska sailings with in-depth land adventures. Guests can choose from 28 itineraries that include visits to up to four national parks (Glacier Bay, Denali, Kenai Fjords and Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park), and stays at five custom-built wilderness lodges.
Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge and Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge are both in the Denali National Park area, and other lodges are available near Kenai Fjords and Wrangell-St Elias National Parks. Travel from ship to lodge couldn’t be easier, thanks to the Direct-to-the-Wilderness rail service, which provides same-day access.
The 17-night Denali Escorted Cruisetour is the ultimate immersive trip, offering two-night stays at each lodge.
