Star Princess has been delivered to Princess Cruises ahead of her inaugural Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona on October 4.

Star Princess, has been delivered to Princess Cruises ahead of her inaugural Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona on October 4.

Star Princess, the second Sphere-Class of ship in the Princess fleet, was officially delivered to Princess Cruises at an official handover ceremony held at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy. Star Princess is the 17th ship in the cruise line’s line-up of vessels sailing worldwide.

With over 1500 balcony staterooms, Star Princess will be able to accommodate 4300 guests. Like her sister ship, Sun Princess, she will have the Sanctuary Collection, a private area for guests with exclusive access to Sanctuary Club and an adults-only pool deck.

The ship will also have The Dome, a new relaxation and entertainment space, the Arena, a technologically advanced theatre and the Piazza, the centrepiece of the ship.

Star Princess will debut on the Mediterranean with a round-trip, 11-day itinerary from Barcelona on October 4 before crossing the Atlantic to begin her Caribbean season in November. Following that, she will then sail through the Panama Canal to begin her inaugural Alaska season.
