Silversea will debut seven sailings where food lovers can immerse themselves in food-themed voyages in Europe

  • There will be seven sailings timed for Europe’s grape harvest season across Portugal, Spain, France and the UK.
  • Food lovers will have exclusive access to truffle hunting at a historic chateau to a Michelin-chef-led lunch in Bordeaux.
  • The voyages will be led by local experts, master chefs and sommeliers.

Drawing on its popular S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) culinary experiences aboard its fleet, Silversea will debut seven sailings where food lovers can immerse themselves in a private port-blending session in the Douro Valley, a Michelin-chef-led lunch in Bordeaux, a home cooking lesson in Normandy and a truffle hunt at a historic chateau.

The seven new sailings aboard Silver Dawn and Silver Spirit have all been scheduled around Europe’s grape harvest season across Portugal, Spain, France and the UK later this year.

The S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages will bring each destination to life through their cuisine with itineraries led by local experts, master chefs, sommeliers and mixologists.

“Our new collection of dedicated S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages will give guests direct access to the people and places that define a region’s food culture,” said Bert Hernandez, President, Silversea. “That means a countess opening her kitchen in northern Portugal or a chef teaching her own family recipes at home in Normandy. These are experiences guests couldn’t arrange on their own and that access is what sets this collection apart.”

Signature moments onboard the ships include a chef-led, nine-course dinner at Silversea’s premier French specialty restaurant, La Dame, celebrating autumnal flavours from Portugal and Spain paired with wine; a mixology session where guests can learn how to create cocktails inspired by the harvest season; a culinary masterclass focused on Atlantic Coast’s finest seafood followed by a six-course lunch paired with wine and a six-course lunch featuring foraged fare including wild mushrooms and fresh truffles hosted by the ship’s executive chef.

During the sailings, guests will gain exclusive access to a behind-the-scenes working kitchen with Michelin-renowned chef Vivien Durand at Chateau du Prince Noir; a cooking lesson with chef Brigitte Dumant at her home in Normandy followed by a garden lunch; a traditional black truffle hunt at Royal Chateau Cazeneuve followed by a three-course truffle lunch and a forage session with chef and fisherman Jose Velhinho in Sintra, Portugal, followed by a four-course lunch paired with wine and locally made kombucha.
