Royal Caribbean has cut steel on its fifth Oasis-class ship which will take the title of the worldโs largest cruise ship when it launches in 2021.
The new ship, which is yet to be named will take the title over her sister ship, Symphony of the Seas which was launched in 2018.
The new ship from Royal Caribbean will come out at 1,188 feet long and have a maximum capacity of 6,680 guests with 2,200 crew. At double capacity, sheโll be able to accommodate 5,518 guests in 2,759 staterooms.
Each Oasis-class ship has been bigger than the last with Symphony of the Seas nudging out Harmony of the Seas. And Harmony took the title from 2009โs Allure of the Seas who eclipsed Oasis of the Seas โ the first Oasis-class ship.
Royal Caribbean International CEO Michael Bayley said the ship would be slightly bigger than her four sisters. A sixth Oasis-class ship is set for her debut in 2023.
The new Oasis-class ship will have seven district neighbourhoods like the Central Park which is an open air green space in the middle of the ship. And perhaps rides like The Ultimate Abyss, a 10-storey dry slide and the Perfect Storm water park might also appear on the new vessel.
A press release revealed that the new Oasis-class ship โwill combine the iconic seven-neighborhood concept that her sister ships feature with a bold and unexpected lineup of thrilling experiences, imaginative dining, unparalleled entertainment and the latest technology.
