Ponant Explorations has increased its expeditions to the Arctic with over 35 itineraries for adventure seekers planning to brave the ice in 2028.
Ponant will offer one of its most extensive range of Arctic expeditions taking travellers for an extraordinary adventure to the Arctic’s most remote and captivating regions including the North Pole, Greenland, Svalbard and Iceland. Ponant will operate four expedition ships in the region between May and October 2028.
Luxury icebreaker, Le Commandant Charcot will offer eight itineraries to reach the North Pole including return flights between Paris and Longyearbyen. Intrepid travellers will sail to the heart of the pack ice along the fjords and glaciers of Svalbard.
The 18-night voyage will combine the North Pole with Greenland where travellers will be able to land on the ice, go kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing and polar plunging. Prices start from $72,180 per person.

“Who hasn’t dreamed of one day reaching the end of the world? A source of wonder, myths and great human and technological feats, as well as tragedy since ancient times,” Ponant said.
Le Commandant Charcot will also explore the rarely visited Polar regions including the legendary Northwest Passage and Greenland’s high Arctic from May to August 2028 – the only luxury icebreaker capable of navigating these regions so early in the season.
Travellers will be able to spot polar bears, discover the Thule region and Disko Bay, home to the largest icebergs in the northern hemisphere and experience meeting the Inuit communities in their villages.
Prices for a 15-night expedition from Nuuk in Greenland to Reykjavik in Iceland start from $36,860 per person.
Le Lyrial will explore Svalbard and Spitsbergen, home to polar bears, Arctic foxes, Svalbard reindeers and whales during a classic seven-night expedition from June to July 2028. With its thick, insulating fur, the polar bear has ruled the icy wilderness of Svalbard. Whether it’s a solitary male or a mother with her cubs, encountering this majestic predator is always a profoundly moving experience, Ponant said.
They will also be able to see dramatic glaciers, icebergs, fjords and listen to crackling ice and the sound of crashing blocks of ice.
Prices start from $15,320 pp.
Le Boreal has a seven-night expedition to Iceland – the land of ice and fire. Here travellers will be able to discover nature at its most dramatic where glaciers stretch for miles, fjords carve deep into the land, geysers erupt with force and thermal springs offer moments of calm. Iceland is a country where the culture of bathing is always present. The hot waters of the Blue Lagoon, which was once an open-air spa, is a sight to behold. Make sure you do not miss the most famous waterfall, the Godafoss, nicknamed the “golden waterfall” produced by the sun creating a rainbow in the water.
Prices start from $10,450 pp.
