Pacific Explorer emerges as Star Voyager – with a tribute to her Aussie roots

  • Pacific Explorer has already emerged from her Singapore dry-dock, now known as Star Voyager.
  • She will be part of the return of the Star Cruises brand.
  • Her new livery design pays tribute to her past as a P&O ship.

The beloved Pacific Explorer, often known affectionately as Dora, has undergone a rapid transformation and has already emerged from drydock before she starts her next life as Star Voyager

While previous pictures showed that the transformation would be quick, it still comes as a shock to see the beloved Aussie ship so quickly reemerge after her Singapore makeover. The ship is going through its final preparations before it starts sailing on March 26.

Fans of Dora will be interested to learn that she will still wear a look that pays tribute to her past life as an Australia and P&O ship. While her livery has been changed, it maintains the stars across the front of the ship, recognising her Aussie origins.

As can be seen, while the artwork across the hull is new, it contains similar stars that previously donned the hull of Pacific Explorer

Fans of the ship will be happy to know that even in her new operations, a little piece of her past will stay with her.

It is not yet totally clear how different the interior looks, but the ship’s brochure does give a solid insight into how the inside of the ship will come out looking.

The return of Star Cruises and Dream Cruises

While Pacific Explorer was set to become part of Resorts World Cruises, she’ll actually know play an even more significant role, spearheading the return of Star Cruises, a brand with more than 30 years of history in Asia.

Resorts World Cruises, of which Pacific Explorer was becoming its third ship, has announced a transition into Star Cruises and Dream Cruises, the two previous premier cruising brands of Asia.

Genting Dream will serve as only the ship of Dream Cruises, meanwhile the previously Pacific Explorer, Star Voyager will be a part of star cruises. Star Voyager will serve alongside Star Navigator, re-named from Resorts World Cruises One.

Dream Cruises will occupy the more luxury sailings, whereas Star Cruises will offer a more affordable option.

The brand transition will take about three months to complete, but won’t cause a delay to any scheduled sailings.

If you want to get back onboard what used to be Pacific Explorer, you can do it for amazing prices.

Five-night cruises out of Singapore start from about $1000, with other options out of Thailand, Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh starting with similar per-day prices.
