Onboard the world’s largest ship – Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, has commenced its first ever journey, setting off on its maiden voyage.

The Royal Caribbean vessel will be operating seven-night itineraries from Florida to the Caribbean until April, before heading for the sparkling Mediterranean coast come the European summer.

Weighing in at a massive 236,857 gross tonnes, the ship can pack in 6988 guests, 2300 crew members and measures at 362 metres long.

Coming in at five time the size of the titanic, Wonder has a wealth of entertainment on board, with the musical Chicago being performed by a Broadway cast, an AquaTheatre where performers show off death-defying stunts, a mini golf and laser tag area, outdoor movie theatre, luxury spa and gym and so much more.

If you find yourself unsatisfied by one of the pools, you’ll have another 18 you can swim in instead, there’s an ice skating rink, 20 restaurants, 11 bars and plenty more entertainment packed into the colossal cruise ship.

There’s a fully-decked out Las Vegas style casino, Coney Island inspired boardwalk lined with restaurants of multiple cuisines and even a Central Park, with 20,000 plants and trees.

Wonder of the Seas joins Harmony, Allure, Symphony and Oasis of the seas in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class fleet.

Wonder was built over three years in Saint-Nazaire in France, costing nearly $2 billion to put together.

Royal Caribbean CEO Jason Liberty says he is expecting big things for the year ahead.

“We are eager to move forward this year. We expect 2022 will be a strong year as we bring the rest of our fleet into operations and approach historical occupancy levels.”

  1. I have had two cruises cancelled during Covid. I have been looking around the world and two I have been looking at this last ten days for November 2022 have been cancelled.
With blasted Putin being a war mongerer I am concerned about going around parts of Europe.
    Bringing a local cruise

  2. Our current governments have failed on all levels regarding the cruise industry. We have had 3 cruises cancelled. We have one booked for early next year, which we hope will proceed, but cruising to NZ, who knows? We have another mid year from Europe. It looks like all of our cruising trips will commence overseas for the near future at least. Ridiculous!

  3. This sorry excuse of a health honcho Greg Hunt is on a power trip. “I put the ban in place and I’ll be the one to lift it” It only needs for him to get out of the wrong side of the bed, or refused his nuptials, and it’s off again until he decides otherwise. The only thing in our favour is our upcoming federal election, and it would be political suicide not to lift the ban. So there’s that…

Won’t affect us in Western Australia because our premier McClown is perversely refusing all talk about cruise ships coming into Fremantle.

We’ll be the last you can bet on that. If the ban does get lifted, all the states will be cruising, and all you’ll see is tumbleweed blowing across our port terminal with people scratching their heads about why they voted in this muppet….

We’ve had 3 cruises cancelled. Can’t blame Princess. I blame this covid nonsense. The daily rates increase because people queue up in droves to get tested for a disease they’ve been jabbed against. How many people who had the Salk polio vaccine in the 1960’s routinely lined up at a hospital to check that they still hadn’t got polio. None is my guess. It’s sheep lining up for a test who are forcing the numbers up. You’ve had your two or three jabs, why keep going back to see if they’re still working…?
