- Ville Vie Residences is offering a chance for people to be on a cruise ship for the entirety of the Trump presidency
- The four-year sailing would start from around AUD$244,800
- Ville Vie is the first mid-range residential cruise line to set sail
Ville Vie Residences is offering cruisers a very unique way to escape the Trump presidency – on a cruise ship. The cruise ship offers long-term residential cruising, and following Trump’s win, it’s offering a chance to spend the entirety of the presidency out at sea.
The cruise line is framing the offer as a special “skip forward” package. It’s a four-year sailing, meaning cruisers would be cruising right up until Donald Trump steps out of office.
Ville Vie Residence’s CEO Mikael Petterson said that the product already existed before the election results, and the package happens to suit someone very well who wants to leave the USA until the next presidential cycle.
“Although the campaign was put together before the results of the election, we feel we have a perfect product for those who said they’d leave the country if XYZ wins the election.
Petterson says that while there are people from all different walks of life onboard, he feels there is unity in their shared exploration.
“We may have differing political views, but our community comes together through our passion for exploring the world in a very real way that goes far beyond politics.”
How realistic is it for the average person to get on this cruise? It would be a bit of a stretch for most, with the cheapest cabin on the ship coming out to around AUD$ 244,800.
Donald Trump was recently elected as the next president of the United States and will serve for four years in office.
What is Ville Vie?
After some failed attempts from Victoria Cruises Line and Life at Sea Cruises, Ville Vie Residences has become the first affordable residential cruise line to commence operations
The ship is set to sail for 15 years and passengers can purchase a ticket for the entire duration of that, or for shorter segments as outlined above. Cruisers will own their cabin for the duration of their purchase, able to live from it, or even rent it out or sell it privately.
A range of services are included with the purchase from internet, healthcare consultations, dining venues, classes onboard, wellness sessions and much more.
While the price will come out differently depending on the duration of your purchase and your choice of cabin category, the cost of the ship is comparable to the cost of living in Australia.
Like those before it, Ville Vie faced some obstacles in getting to sea, with the cruise being delayed for several months, the delay being so long that a couple onboard met and got engaged before the ship even started sailing.
The ship then finally set sail, only to have to instantly do a U-turn and head back to port due to cited ‘paperwork‘ issues.
However, eventually the cruise line was able to pull off what was promised and start sailing around the world, with most guests onboard in it for the long haul.
