Storylines’ MV Narrative, the private residences at sea scheduled to launch in 2026, has launched a first-of-its-kind floating school for families wanting to educate their children onboard.

Storylines Global Academy will be available onboard MV Narrative and will offer children on the continuously circumnavigating residential ship a personalised floating school. It is set to cater for up to 50 students with the curriculum to include 100-plus port visits and a student-teacher ratio of 8:1.

MV Narrative is claimed to be on the “affordable” side of the residential cruise concepts with residences ranges from US$1m-$8m. It is said to cater for digital nomads, families with children, retirees and cruise lovers. The academy will welcome families with students ranging from grades Kindergarten to Year 12.

In addition to the upfront costs, there will also be additional monthly fees for residents. But no mention was made of school fees in the information supplied about Storylines Global Academy.

The Storylines website offers admissions information for the floating school on how to apply and an introduction to the boarding program available to non-resident high school students.

Subject from athletics to music

The site outlines a program includes “Academics” that explores different facets of the educational programs, including global education, collaborative learning, field excursions and independent study.

Meanwhile, “Student Life” is a walkthrough of what students can expect through athletics, clubs, workshops, mentorship, and support programs.

“A child who experiences Storylines’ personalised education model will leave the program multilingual with the ability to play musical instruments, and they will have a vast array of friends from all over the globe after having traveled around the world multiple times,” says the CEO of Storylines, Queenslander Alister Punton.

“They’ll also have mentors from diverse backgrounds who are all highly successful in their chosen fields. Our students will leave with an investment strategy to set them up for success and a passive income that allows them to focus on the important things in life such as contributing to making the world a better place.

“Success will organically develop in all aspects of their life when they live this incredibly unique lifestyle every day.”

Global education

In addition to the educational curriculum on board the ship, students within Storylines Global Academy will have the opportunity to experience field trips such as studying ancient history at the pyramids in Giza, medieval history at the Colosseum in Rome, literary history at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, archaeology at the moai (carved human figures) on Easter Island and marine biology at the Great Barrier Reef.

MV Narrative is under construction in Brodosplit shipyard in Croatia. Buyers, including some Australians, expect to see amenities such as hydroponic farms, an anti-ageing clinic, 20 dining venues, bars and even a brewery.

Current pricing for whole ownership of one of the proposed 530 residences ranges from US$1m-$8m, or starts at US$598K for a 25% ownership or US$550K for a 50% ownership.

‘Students’ onboard MV Narrative will visit more than 100 ports.
