Crystal continues resurgence with announcement that a new ship on the way

Crystal is continuing its resurgence with the announcement that it has ordered another ocean-ship from the renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

Around three years ago, Crystal’s previous parent company went bankrupt, but now, under the new ownership of Abercrombie & Kent, the cruise line is thriving once more.

The cruise line spoke on this progress in a press release: “The announcement comes two years after A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal in 2022, marking a new chapter for the cruise line. Under A&K Travel Group’s leadership, Crystal has been focusing on enhancing its offerings both at sea and onshore and expanding its fleet to provide unparalleled experiences for its guests.”

What to expect from the new ship?

The ship will look similar to its similar ships both in design and size, carrying up to 690-passengers, weighing in at 61,800 gross-tons and while few details are known yet, it will be padded out with similar amenities to Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.

Like other Crystal ships, it will maintain a heavy culinary focus, with the Nobu at sea, along with BeefBar, the design of restaurateur Riccado Giraudi.

Guests can look forward to all-suite accommodation, with private verandas decking out the suites. Furthermore, Crystal will continue its special selection of solo suites for those looking to take to sea by themselves.

Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group said: “Exercising this option and agreeing to build a third ship together showcases the trust and partnership between my family and Fincantieri, dating back to Sitmar Cruises and evolving through Silversea to our present vision with Crystal’.

“We’re pleased to bring an expanded fleet to our guests, offering even more ways to explore the world with the extraordinary service and style synonymous with Crystal’.”
