Music may be the food of love, but in today’s world a dating app is more likely to find its mark than Cupid’s arrow.

Instead of getting wined and dined, we’ve been reduced to algorithmic mating by mobile.

But wait – there’s hope yet. SinglesCruising.com.au hosts groups of adults looking for love or just other cruisers to hang out with.

Shelby Bergeron, SinglesCruising.com’s lead cruise director says the great thing about singles cruising is that you get to meet people face-to-face.

“Meeting in a fun, laid back setting like a singles cruise is so much better and more authentic than perhaps meeting them online because you meet and get to know someone-face-to-face.

“Right away, you can tell if you have a spark with another single and you can get to know them better throughout your cruise.”

The company has a number of hosts that coordinate events, specifically for the singles group. From everything to cocktail parties, games, dance lessons and single mingle dining, just to name a few.

The cruises are open to singles of all ages but there are some age-specific holidays for cruisers in their 20s and 30s, 30s and 40s and over 40.

The company will also room match you with someone of the same sex so you don’t have to pay the single fees.

But for those looking necessarily looking for romance and just a bit of company, Carnival Spirit has a Singles Meet & Greet at 7pm at the Alchemy Bar every day. On Carnival Legend it’s in the RedFrog Pub.

Princess, Cunard and P&O Cruises World Cruising also offer dedicated solo traveller gatherings during each cruise which are publicised in the daily newsletters for people who are travelling by themselves. On longer cruises there are often multiple gatherings.

Princess also offers unhosted gatherings of solo travellers as well.

Cunard host a solo travellers morning coffee gathering and on some port days, they have a solo travellers meetings for those who want to get to know each other before they head out on shore excursions.

P&O Cruises World Cruising has a regular gathering called a Travelling Alone Get Together.
