Celebrity Edge, one of Celebrity Cruises transformational Edge-Series ships, continues to make her way down the east coast of Australia, arriving in Sydney on Saturday on her maiden voyage Down Under.

Celebrity Edge’s journey from Singapore is part of a 14-night itinerary featuring a visit to Bali, in addition to three ports of call in Australia, including Darwin, Yorkeys Knob and Airlie Beach in Queensland before completing her journey in Sydney.

She’ll then sail itineraries from three to 14 nights, hitting some exciting spots across the country.

In Sydney, guests will be welcomed aboard for Celebrity Edge’s maiden voyage Down Under – a 12-night sailing, exploring the landscapes of New Zealand. This is the first of 12 itineraries departing from Sydney and Auckland through to April 2024.

Celebrity Edge will then make her way out to ports across the Pacific, including Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.

Celebrity Edge’s arrival in Darwin Port last Saturday morning was the final leg of her repositioning cruise to the South Pacific, bringing more than 2800 tourists and 1300 crew to the Top End.

Passengers and crew were treated to a Welcome to Country and traditional dancing from Larrakia Nation upon arrival in Darwin. It was followed by a warm welcome from Tourism Top End ambassadors once on shore.

“Today is a huge milestone for Celebrity Cruises as our signature Edge-Series ship arrives in Australian waters for the first time,” Celebrity Cruises Vice President and Managing Director of Australia, New Zealand and APAC, Tim Jones, said after Celebrity Edge docked in the Northern Territory capital.

“What better place to celebrate her arrival than Darwin! We are extremely grateful for the support of our valued travel partners and guests and look forward to sharing in more celebrations together as we ‘Journey WonderFULL’ throughout the Australia and New Zealand season.”

Record local bookings

First launched in 2018, Celebrity Edge set a new record for bookings, when itineraries were offered from Australia in 2022. The luxury line claimed the high-tech vessel’s first season was a sales boom for luxury cruising.

Australian passengers have been trading up, with a fifth of bookings for the ultra-luxe ship-within-a-ship area called The Retreat, including Iconic Suites and Penthouse Suites.

Sales of the Celebrity Edge exceeded other Celebrity season launches by four times.
