It’s a story that is our biggest nightmare – missing our cruise ship.

And it’s happened to another couple who missed their ship, Freedom of the Seas.

A new video which has been posted on Facebook, shows the couple narrowly missing the ship as she pulls away from port.

Passengers on another ship can be heard, yelling and shouting, “you missed it”, while whistling and cheering as the annoyed looking couple are escorted by one of the port workers off the pier.

The video also captures one of the crew members from the bridge, waving a giant hand sign which has ‘bye’ plastered on the palm.

While it might seem as a hilarious taunt at the late passengers, the sign was pulled out for the bystanders on the pier and passengers on the other ship – just awkward timing for sure.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson told Cruise Passenger: “Our crew member was not directing her wave to our guests on the pier.  She was waving at our sister ship, Anthem of the Seas, which was also in port and scheduled for departure. The gesture was one of respect and nautical camaraderie between crew members. We regret the inconvenience our guests experienced due the late return to the pier. Guests are encouraged to be back by all-aboard time. Departure times are routinely announced onboard, posted in shipboard newsletters and at gangways to keep our guests informed at all ports of call.”
