Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC) has suspended its 2021/2022 Seven Seas Explorer season in Asia-Pacific, delaying the vessel’s Australian debut.
RSSC’s CEO Jason Montague has confirmed that the line’s return to service plan would lead to the cancelling of the planned Australian season.
On the plus side, the line’s moves mean the entire Regent Seven Seas fleet will be back sailing by February. But sadly, Australians wanting to experience the butler service, unlimited champagne and amazing lobster brunch parties on the deck will miss out.
Mr Montague spoke of the bittersweet news: “We’re excited to share with you our plan which will see all of our ships back in the water by early 2022…unfortunately this does mean we’ve had to make some difficult decision.”
“Considering the continued impact of the pandemic in certain parts of the world we thought carefully about how, when and where reuniting the entire Regent family would enable us to consistently deliver an unrivalled experience as well as provide exceptional destination explorations.”
“As a result and with much regret we’ve had to suspend further sailings including Seven Seas Explorer’s upcoming Asia-Pacific season and Seven Seas Voyager’s upcoming Africa and South America sailings.”
Mr Montague made clear that he empathises with customers who had their “much anticipated and much deserved experiences cancelled.” Rather than visiting Australian shores for any of its 14 planned itineraries, the Explorer will resume sailing in Venice on October 16.
Seven Seas Voyager will be leaving its Africa and South American sailings and restarting in Barcelona in February. Meanwhile the Seven Seas Mariner will return to sailing in Miami and the Seven Seas Navigator will also return in Miami a few weeks after on January 6.
Every cruise planned before the above dates for the respective ships has been cancelled.
The new line up:
Seven Seas Explorer
She will sail on October 16, 2021, from Venice, Italy. It will complete two published Mediterranean voyages before crossing the Atlantic to Miami, Florida and, from November 15, 2021, sail a further two published sailings in the Caribbean. The ship then begins a newly created winter Caribbean season with eight new sailings, starting December 20, 2021, with a 14-night Southern Caribbean cruise. After a trans-Atlantic crossing, Seven Seas Explorer will arrive back in Europe on April 10, 2022, sailing three more newly created Mediterranean itineraries before embarking on its published 2022 European summer season on May 14.
Seven Seas Mariner
Seven Seas Mariner will return to sailing on a published December 18, 2021, itinerary, cruising from Miami, Florida to San Francisco, California where it will begin a World Cruise on January 5, 2022.
Seven Seas Navigator
She will begin January 6, 2022, from Miami, Florida with its published 2022 Southern Caribbean winter sailings, which include multiple round-trip Barbados voyages.
Seven Seas Voyager
Five new Mediterranean voyages will kick-star the Voyager’s return, the first from Barcelona, Spain on February 15, 2022, before commencing its published 2022 European summer season itineraries exploring the Mediterranean and Northern Europe from April 15, 2022.
