Australians will have to wait at least two to three years before a Windstar yacht may sail in local waters, says Helen Beck, Global Managing Director, Windstar Cruises.

Since Windstarโ€™s newest ship in 30 years, Star Seeker will debut in December this year and sail to Japan and Southeast Asia in Vietnam and Thailand in 2026, it is logical that the line may extend the shipโ€™s itineraries to include Australia.

โ€œIt is on my wish list,โ€ said Ms Beck.

This would mean that the 224-guest, Star Seeker will sail in rotation from Alaska, Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Ms Beckโ€™s newly appointed role is to grow Windstarโ€™s client base outside of the Americas. โ€œAs 95 per cent of Windstarโ€™s guests are from America, my brief s to grow our international clientele including Australia,โ€ she said.

Windstar prides itself in creating unique experiences visiting little ports, rarely used by other cruise lines.

Relaxing on Windstar ship main

โ€œWindstar is casual yet polished – we are not a high luxury line rather we pride ourselves in relaxed luxury. We are not floating resorts as our ships can accommodate only 148 to  342 guests.โ€

The line offers a sense of sailing experience with amazing cuisine on board. Most guests are aged between 55 and 75 years of age who are curious, discerning and looking to learn something new.

โ€œOur guests like to travel well but not ostentatiously,โ€ she added.

Onboard, Windstar likes to create fun loving moments such as deck barbeques followed by lion dancing.

Windstar currently has six ships โ€“ three motor yachts and three sail yachts. Two new motor yachts will increase its fleet to eight with Star Seeker to debut in December this year and Star Explorer in December 2026. Star Explorer will launch in the Mediterranean with longer port stays and offer off-season itineraries.

The line is also known for its sailings in Tahiti and French Polynesia onboard Star Breeze. In 2027, the line will send an additional ship, Wind Star to sail to popular South Pacific destinations including Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands.
