Celebrity Cruises is set to build a fifth Edge-class ship – cementing the new, radical design as one of the most successful. The new ship will be delivered in 2024.

Celebrity Edge, first in the class, was delivered just last year after much anticipation for its eye-catching design elements like the Magic Carpet, a moving platform cantilevered off the side of the ship.

The ship also features state-of-the-art technology such as guest-friendly automation features, an app that helps you customise your cabin, and the Infinite Veranda staterooms where half the glass wall can slide down to let in the sea breeze.

“Edge class made an immediate hit with Celebrity Cruises guests and is a state-of-the-art example of technical excellence and elegant design,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises. “We can’t wait to build the next one.”

The line has entered into an agreement to build the fifth Edge-class ship with long time partner, French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

“Celebrity Edge has delighted our guests and affirmed Celebrity Cruises as the leading modern luxury brand. Chantiers de l’Atlantique has been a brilliant partner and we look forward to creating another amazing vessel with them,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises.

There are existing orders for three other Edge-class vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
