In what appears to be a promising sign, Captain Vittorio Marchi and his crew are back on board Carnival Spirit and sharing updates as they wait for new orders offshore near Singapore.

The Carnival Spirit crew are just one of the latest to begin to mobilise as vaccine news grows and safe-cruising framework details are ironed out.

Captain Vittorio’s social media updates across Facebook and Instagram have been inundated with comments from excited Australian cruise passengers keen to get back on board the ship when she homeports in Brisbane next year.

While Captain Vittorio could not confirm if this would go ahead, he told one passenger: “We really hope so!”.

Now Carnival has organised a special Christmas card drop to the ship from Australians missing their favourite crew, so passengers can help spread a little seasonal cheer.

All you have to do is fill your favourite Christmas card with as much cheer and positivity as you can,  and mail it to the Carnival head office. The Carnival team will take care of the rest – shh its a surprise.

But hurry. Send your card before December 4, marked to Carnival Spirit crew or Carnival Splendor crew to:

PO Box 1429

Chatswood NSW 2057

The cards will be sent to Singapore in one bulk send so be sure to get in before next Friday.

Last week, in a Facebook post Captain Vittorio said: “Going back to Carnival Spirit during this unprecedented time is definitely different. I have been there throughout my career several times collecting memories and visiting beautiful places.”

The Captain also shared images as he and his crew sailed out toward the ship just a few days later.

He said: “On the way to board Carnival Spirit our home away from home for the next few months”.

His images depict crew in their face masks with their luggage approaching the ship offshore in Singapore from a water shuttle.

The crew will spend the next few months on board keeping the ship afloat and ready for passengers to begin sailing again.

One passenger told Captain Vittoria he was excited to see more images to which the Captain replied: “I will do my best Tim!”.
