Watch Silversea's amazing lengthening of the Silver Spirit

Luxury line Silversea have revealed some amazing images and footage of the refurbishment of the Silver Spirit.

The ship has been cut in two as she is in the process of not only getting new and exciting features, but is also being lengthened.

The lengthening project will create more space in public facilities as well as enhancing the new onboard features which will be completed on May 5.

โ€œWitnessing these breathtaking phases of theย Silverย Spiritย lengthening project has filled us with pride and excitement,โ€ said Barbara Muckermann, chief marketing officer ofย Silversea.

โ€œThis ambitious project will amplify the on-board features that matter most to our guests.ย  We are taking our flagship,ย Silverย Museย โ€“ which was delivered by Fincantieri in April last year โ€“ as the point of inspiration for a fleet-wide renovation program.ย  The lengthening and refurbishment ofย Silverย Spiritย will replicate the modern elegance of our latest vessel to make for a more luxurious travelling experience.ย  We are eager to share the new and improved layout of our cherished ship with our valued guests.โ€

The line is adding to its list of restaurants with new dining concepts like Atlantide, Indochine, Silver Note and Spaccanapoli. They will complement the pre-existing Seishin, La Dame, La Terrazza and The Grill.

The pool area on the sky deck will increase in length (from 30 to 45m / 98 to 148 ft.) to offer additional space for relaxing under the sun and a new aerobics area will also be created.

Inside, the Zagara Spa concept will be installed, as will a new free weights room which will complement the upgraded fitness centre.

The Arts Cafรฉ and Dolce Vita โ€“ two new, sophisticated public spaces โ€“ will improve the on-board entertainment options.ย  All suites will be refurbished as well.

Prior to her refurbishment, Silversea docked in Chania in Crete to donate furniture to a number of charities.

In total, 11 containers were filled with 4,652 items from the ship โ€“ including sofas, chairs, curtains, computers, and more.

The donated articles will be put to use for social welfare purposes in hospitals, nursing homes, schools and other institutions across the island.

Norwegian Cruise Lines float out their latest and Alaskan bound ship, Norwegian Bliss

Norwegian Cruise Lines float out their latest and Alaskan bound ship, Norwegian Bliss

Itโ€™s just weeks away from the launch of Norwegian Cruise Linesโ€™ latest ship, the Norwegian Bliss and she has emerged from the building dock in Germany.

Designed to sail around Alaska, she is now in the final stages of construction โ€“ sheโ€™ll be kitted out with some of the latest features including a two-story race car track, a laser tag course, dozens of restaurants and much more.

Sheโ€™s the third Breakaway Plus ship and sheโ€™ll accommodate around 4,000 passengers. The float out was also revealed the shipโ€™s signature hull artwork designed by world-renowned marine life artists and conservationist, Wyland.

Best known for his marine life paintings, sculptures and grand scale murals, or โ€œWhaling Walls,โ€ Norwegian Blissโ€™ hull design is named โ€œCruising with the Whalesโ€ and features a stunning image of a mother humpback whale and her calf as the centerpiece of the design which reflects the Alaskan wildlife.

Norwegian Bliss will also be the first ship to be built with features for keen amateur naturalists like a 180-degree Observation Lounge where guests can see whale breaches and the stunning scenes of Alaska and Canada.

She will also be the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship to make her debut in Seattle, with cruises beginning May 2018.  Norwegian Bliss will offer weekly seven-day cruises to see Americaโ€™s last frontier with ports-of-call including Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia, along with scenic glacier cruising.

โ€œOur partners at Meyer Werft have done an excellent job realising our vision for a ship designed to experience Alaska and the Caribbean like never before,โ€ said Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer.

โ€œWe are counting down the days until her official debut in Seattle summer, where guests will be able to race around the worldโ€™s largest two-level race track at sea against the backdrop of Alaskaโ€™s wild frontier, and enjoy other first-at-sea experiences.โ€

Following preview events in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles, Norwegian Bliss will sail into Seattle for her official christening on May 30, with North-American summer cruises to Alaska beginning June 2.

She will spend her Northern-Hemisphere summer seasons with seven-day cruises to Alaska, and North-American autumn seasons sailing to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles.

In the North-American winter of 2018 she will sail to the Caribbean from Miami, and in the 2019 Northern-Hemisphere autumn/winter season she will cruise from New York City to Florida, the Bahamas and Caribbean.
