Norwegian Star was built in 2001 and refurbished in 2015. The first Dawn-class ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, it has a length of 965 feet and a gross tonnage of 91,740. Passengers range from families with young children to retirees who enjoy casual cruising at very affordable prices. The family-friendly ship carries 2,348 passengers and 1,083 crew.
Accommodation
There are 1,172 staterooms in 32 different categories on board Norwegian Star, ranging from inside cabins (142 square feet) to three-bedroom villas that sleep seven (6,694 square feet). Guests in suite accommodation have concierge and butler services. Standard cabins have ample storage space and various amenities (salon-style hairdryer, mirrored vanity table, mini-fridge, television, writing table and toiletries are by Elemis).
Food
There are 15 dining options and 11 bars and lounges on board Norwegian Star. Versailles and Aqua are the main dining rooms and provide Freestyle Dining (no set table or time). The Market Cafรฉ has an international buffet, Ginza serves Asian fusion and for a British pub and grill experience, guests can visit the Oย’Sheehanย’s. There are also a number of specialty restaurants. For French cuisine, guests can make reservations for dinner at Le Bistro. La Cucina offers Italian dishes. For premium steaks and seafood, Cagneyย’s Steakhouse requires reservations. Japanese hibachi speciality dishes are offered at Teppanyaki Room and Brazilian barbecue is served at Moderno Churrascaria.
Activities
Norwegian Star offers various ways for their guests to relax and stay healthy. The Barong spa and fitness centre has a beauty salon, treatment rooms, lap pool and a thermal suite. The full-service gym has daily aerobics/fitness classes. There is also a jogging track, golf nets and a sports court.
Families
Norwegian Star has plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained. The Splash Academy has interactive games, an arts and crafts area and creative theme nights just for kids. It is next to the Splash Down Kid’s Pool which has rocket slides, a paddling pool and a hot tub. Teens have their own club with a video wall, jukebox, football table and air hockey. By night the Teen Club turns into a teen disco.
