I have suggested in a number of digital venues that a way to assist in the management of good health whilst cruising, especially in coronavirus times, is to allow free access to the Medical Centre for all passengers by charging a nominal amount per Diem per passenger. That is every passengers pays a small amount included in their fares, say $5 per day, to permit free service by the ship’s medical staff. So on a 2000 passenger ship on a 10 day cruise the monies collected would be $100,000. ( The actual daily charge could be adjusted) This should be ample to pay the staff and overheads to allow free and ready access to medical advice when needed. All too many passengers who are feeling unwell are put off seeing the doctor because of the high cost of appointments and then they are in a fine position to spread any virus they may have,. The additional cost for the example given is about the costs of 1/2 a cocktail per day. Not bad for better position to help the spread of any on board virus.
