9 cruise ships the kids will love

Trying to convince the kids to leave behind their Xbox console for a family holiday on board a cruise ship can be pretty tough.

It can often result in tears, tantrums and worst-case scenario the silence treatment.

But when the holiday involves a water coaster, 50s diner and rock climbing – it can make the convincing part a whole lot easier.

Which is why weโ€™ve put together a list of top nine cruise ships we think your kids will love.

Disney Dream

Who better to entertain the kids than Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.

Itโ€™s one big fairytale on board a Disney Cruise Lines ship, but the Disney Dream is a particular treat for both adults and children.

They will love:

+ The AquaDuck water coaster on deck 12 โ€“ itโ€™s the ride with a view as it travels 765 feet through an acrylic tube that hangs off the side of the ship. It goes down four decks before splashing out into a lazy river. Itโ€™s a quick ride but itโ€™ll keep the entire family entertained during sea days.

+ Kids-only pools means the young ones can splash around with friends in shallow waters. The ship has Mickeyโ€™s Pool, which is located on deck 11 and is shaped like Mickey Mouseโ€™s head; and the Nemo Reef located next to it which features fountains, bubblers, pop jets and characters from Disney and Pixarโ€™s Finding Nemo.

+ Disney characters make regular appearance during cruises. Among them are Mickey Mouse; Minnie Mouse; Donald Duck; Daisy Duck; Chip & Dale; Goofy; Pluto; Max; Captain Hook; Peter Pan; Lilo; Stitch; Cinderella; Belle; Snow White; Princess Aurora; Princess Tiana; Ariel; Captain Jack Sparrow; Dopey; and Jake.

+ New Disney stories have also been designed specifically for the cruises including Disneyโ€™s Believe โ€“ a musical of a workaholic father who is reconnected with his daughter. It features new characters as well as old favourites like Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Princess Tiana. Thereโ€™s also Villains Tonight starring Disneyโ€™s beloved villains including Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Captain Hook from Peter Pan.

The ship has a D-Lounge, which is a family nightclub on deck four where the whole family can get together for a night of games and entertainment.

Thereโ€™s also age-friendly group activities like the Disney Oceaneer Club for 3-12 year olds; Forward Funnel for 11-14 year olds and Vibe for 14-17 year olds.
